REPORT ON THE LANGUAGE CAMP??????.

The English camp started with the ice breaking
session. There were about three or four games were
included in the ice breaking slot. The purpose of the
ice breaking is to let the participants know about
their new friends where at the end of these activities
they will be given a piece of small paper. In each of
the paper is written the name of their group?s name
such as black cat, red cat and orange cat. That
particular name will lead to their respective groups.
But before that, based on that name they need to find
their facilitators. I?ll myself take charge on
dividing the group members on their respective groups.
And each group supposed to be eight to nine people.
After that, each group need to work on their cheering
and this will be used by them whenever they won any of
the games. After all of the groups presenting their
cheering, the facilitators perform their cheering to
the participants. It took about a week of practice to
see the perfect movements. The first night of English
camp was dismissed by singing the theme song of the
language camp. The title of the song is ?I believe?
which is sung by Yolanda Adam.

And at the same night we went back to our hostel and
make some last preparation including packing all
clothes in the bag. Even though we felt very tired, we
still need to complete these responsibilities no
matter how exhausted we were. In the next morning, we
departed from Kolej Tun Fatimah with the rest of the
participants which is half of us departed from Kolej
Nine. On the journey to Tanjung Bidara we?re still
have chance to enjoy the view. The best thing about
Malacca I can describe is the architecture of its
traditional house. As we arrived late to the chalet,
some of the games need to be canceled due to time
consuming. I really disappointed because our game is
one of the games that were eliminated. Then the
participants and facilitators were divided into a
group of four. Each of these groups was given with a
key of their room. After that we took our lunch and
performed our prayers. At two in the afternoon, we?re
start with the first games and all of the participants
were gathered in the same hall. The name of the game
is Chinese Whisper. However, for the next game which
is Drawing Blind, the participants need to be
separated into two large groups. One group will
compete with five groups in that hall and another five
groups will compete against others outside of the hall
which is on the wooden stage in front of the swimming
pools.

I heard at first they are some kind of lost and
don?t know where to find the right spot to continue
the activities. But after a few discussions among
facilitators they decided to play the game on the
stage. And things are a little bit in chaos however
they are managed to make things work right on the
track. Congratulations to all facilitators who take
charge on the outside of the hall. The story was
different inside of the hall as we played Drawing
Blind, participants need to give instructions to their
friend who is blindfolded. The hall is full of voices
as all of them were shouting during that game. I admit
that I could not stand the sound of it as it was too
loud. Sometimes I need to cover my ears with both of
my palm. Other games that were played during that day
are such as the name game, Dices and Words and
Pyramid. At five o?clock, the amazing race starts and
before that all of the facilitators were briefed by
Bae and the crew about the games. I was in charged in
giving the participants with one of the clues for the
next destination. The Amazing race is the combination
of two games which are Whose Clues and Command and
Conquer.

At night, the participants were given with a task
which they have to sing a song for each group. With
that song, they have to come out with their creative
presentation, however the presentation is not based on
role play. What I really interested about this camp
idol is the judges were chosen from the participants
of each group. Each of them comes out with different
opinions about the presentation. This activity is
enjoyable and need creative thinking from the
participants. After that, Mr. G continues the
activities with last letter. In this game,
participants need to make big circle, each of them
need to pronounce and spell the word that begin with
the last letter of the previous person who pronounce
that particular word. Games finished at 11 o?clock.
After all the participants went to their rooms, we?re
having a postmortem about all of the activities done
during that day. After that, we?re made our own party.
We were served with some snacks and drink. We?re also
played the poison box. Even though we were exhausted
after all day long of varieties of activities, but it
won?t stop us from spending time together.

My Dear roomate...JayHan Macho...

First and foremost, thank you for your concern about the chaotic situations (outside the hall) faced by half of the facilitators including me during the English Camp. I'm so touched by your words my dear eheheheh.. :-)... However, I believe that the particular facilitators were enjoyed handling the unexpected situation though we have faced difficulty at the beginning. Congratulations girls!... Jay, that is all from me. All the best...

Assalamualaikum..and hi Jay.
mm..i agree with you, about the camp idol night. We enjoyed the participants’ performance very much. I was quite surprised when I knew two or three of them can play the guitar. It’s a challenge for men outside ? . At the same time, some of participants came in front o give their comments on the other groups’ performance. They were very good in commenting. They were brave even some of them spoke broken English.
mm..jay, when you mentioned about the Malacca houses, I still remember the small unique bus stop. Its roof also follows the same pattern like other roof’s houses. O.k, that’s all from me. See you in Malacca hehehe. We go to Asotha’s house…?
