last thusday, we had a grand meeting to prepare the materials for the camp. before that, i helped farhana to inform the rest through sms. heheheh....only those with 012 and 019 got my message. and i would say there were hella of MATERIALS we needed to prepare. the meeting was from 8pm to midnight at faculty. i started off with inserting A4 papers into files for students, then cut manila cards in all sort of sizes (for zarim's game and another to use during students grouping session), after that i wrapped the hampers and stappled the programme agenda. i'm under the frog group with wati n maziana...be prepare for lotsa froggie sounds!! then farhana started her briefing which was long and confusing. not her fault though, it's just that there were alot to digest in just a few hours; the way, the games should be implentend (separately but simulteneously), briefing from each group whose game has been selected. so, i briefed the rest on "okapi". well, it's not called okapi anymore as shu pyng and i have changed to characters from winnie the pooh. sorry, mr.g, we failed to find suitable pictures from monsters inc. and shrek.
before i leave, i listened to suhaimi's briefing on treasure hunt. very confusing too.:"( i think my students will have to lead me in the race instead. :O i left before midnight as i could hardly open my eyes and i fear accident occurs as i'm driving home.
the next afternoon, which was during mr.g class, i went to college to help do the materials again. nothing much was done as we were stuck in norlie;s game. we had no colour or decorative materials to fill the pyramid boards. i left at 4pm because i had to rush home to complete my thesis. i have to print out the pictures for my game and simplify the instructions too.
that's all from me...:D
Yesterday I went to met En Asram “alone”..Meanwhile Farhana and Puh Yih went to the school for the final discussion with En Azhar, Panitia of English Language. Christina still in KL. She couldn’t get any bus ticket coz it was Thaipusam.. hmm never mind about that.. she had already done lot of things for language camp J. The rest of the head?? Well perhaps too busy doing their thesis ; ) About the approval, En Asram totally forgot about it and asked me to collect it tomorrow.. Gosh.. this man huh!! He already taken his leave for one week and promised to give the approval on 28 but want to delay again.. huh.. Not a chance.. I told him that the program is on this Friday. We have lot of things to do.. No more excuse. As a result, he asked me to pick up the approval letter and also the material in the evening. Again, I went back to the office. Guess what happen?? They don’t even settle out the approval coz our proposal had gone.. missing in action.. dah buat tempoyak kot?? ;) they ask me to write down everything.. Farhana’s name, MR G, course, the time, venue and blablabla.. I managed to get the approval and also the material for our language camp. Manila card, scissors, pen, marker, but the funny thing is that we supposed to return all the material that we borrowed.. so kedekut one huh.. haji bakhil!! Thanks to Mak Iti, Rubiah, and Mangala for carry out the material.: ) One more important thing for my department “TECHNICAL” I had already divided you all into two groups. So that you all could write as many as you can, what have you done for language camp. Below are the name’s lists:-

T-shirt
Mak Iti
Marshiee
Marziana
Mone
Banchee

Banner
Shu Pyng
Fila
Mangala
Rubiah

P/s: the t-shirt will be print out this Thursday afternoon at MR G's House. For those who still don’t give me the t-shirt. It’s up too you. I told you many times about it.
I visited the working session. People were busy wrapping presents, cutting papers, thinking of games to be played and some were doing nothing relevant. Some were not there at all. Maybe, they had this part time job as magicians and kept on practicing their disappearing act. Mental note: If everybody does his/her part all jobs can be completed.

------------------
Two days before the big day. I kidnapped 3 girls from UTM and ask them to print t-shirts at my house. I told my wife that they are cheap labors from Indonesia. They worked hard and I paid them with currypuffs and banana fritters. They were happy.

-----------------
You are representing UTM. Be at your best behaviour. Dress like teachers. Don't dress like go-go dancers. You guys are grown-ups. You should know better. Don't embarass me in front of the kampung folks. Good luck. Enjoy the games.
Assalamualaikum....

Can't write much now. We got our briefing and working session last night, which was so tedious and exhaustive. We managed to finish apart of the work. ANd a few games had been presented though not thoroughly but quite describable last night. I have a lot to say, but time won't let me do so. have working sesion right now actually but I asked to be excused for a while to come and attched my PSM chapter to my supervisor, killing two birds with a stone huh!!! I guess I have too. Sorry guys. I know you were alla to tired last night, with the material making, with all th arguments, things that need to be settle down, the hampers, the games, handouts, booklets, files, the keep changing tentative, the rules and regulation during the camp, yeah yeah yeah, a lot of things, but I have to dear. So remember to wera proper and may be a bit formal outfit for the opening ceremony. Kak Harison, Azura, Kristy and Cipah, be ready for the registration sesion. Farizal for the motivational speech, Zarimah as the mc Thiba and suhaimi as the hall control unit. You two have to make sure that they take their seats in the hall and do not make much noise. In short, their behaviour, okay.
What else... quite unorganize, .... i know.... I'm running for the time. Remember your group's name, your partner for the facilitators, be punctual on each activity. And the list may go on and on, but I'll write next time. really got to go now. Thanks to each and every of you. You know without you we won't come up to this phase. puy Yih and christina for being cooperative and outstanding PRO, Hani for being a loyal and obedient vice secretary, Bancheee with all the materials. and bla bla bla.

A message from En. Asram.

yesterday, i met En.Asram to sign a form for the bus booking. he told me that we should give back everything that sponsored by the fakulti after the programme. meaning, he expects us to give back anything that does not being use for the program or anything that being left. for example...if the there are glue or manila cards that not being use...give back to fakulti as it will be very useful for the next programme. so, friends..if the fakulti provides us with pens, we have to lend back to the fakulti, they are not ours...thank you...
AN APOLOGIZE (zarim)
dear friends...i'm sorry for not attending the meeting conducted last thursday, after class. this is because i went to a seminar in Shah Alam. Wahida had told me everything about the meeting and what i should do for my Transportation Unit. And for Farhana, sorry...anyway i've informed you before hand right? thank you. sorry for the inconvenience.

REPORT FROM TRANSPORTATION UNIT (ZARIM)
Sorry...i haven't up date my report for quite a time. for the last two weeks, Wahida and i (transportation unit) were waiting for the approval from Encik Asram before we forward to Pengarah Kerja. Because of some technical problem and the reason of Encik Asram was off duty, we couldn't go to Pengarah Kerja.
Then, early this week, farhana told me to go to Pengarah Kerja without the approval from Encik Asram but bring along the proposal which has been signed by Dr. Hafiz. the proposal was with En.Ghazali. i went to En. Ghazali's room but his was not in and i left a message for him.
i got the proposal last saturday. we thought of going to pengarah kerja last monday but it was holiday. We book the bus yesterday. the one who in charge of the booking, En. Hashim was not there but i asked a cleck at Pengarah Kerja to tell En. Hashim about our program. she checked the bus schedule and told us that there still a place for us. Whatever it is, we'll go to Pengarah Kerja again today for confirmation.

p/s: what time should we meet tonight?
REPORT ABOUT MEETING AT AIR MANIS

This morning at 7.30am, Farhana and I drove off for a second meeting with the school. When we got there, we found out the the Puan Penolong Kanan ( the last person we last discussed the camp with) was off to Mecca for a month or so. Therefore, we had a meeting with the Guru Panithia Bahasa Inggeris and a few other English teachers.
We discussed about the following:
1. The food for the entire camp will be prepared by the school. The cost problem which was the issue in the last meeting, is solved. The school will now sponsor our breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner.
2. The children will be staying overnight in school with all the facsilitators, so the tentative programme has to go through major alterations again. Due to this, the camp will be completed by 1.00pm on 3rd February, instead of 5.00pm. ACtivities on the 2nd will be extended till night time.
3. Accomodation is planned and prepared by the school. All students and facilitators will have to bring their own mats. Classrooms (or event the library) will be where everyone will sleep. Facilitators will sleep among students for safety purposes. Boys will be in a different block from girls. An almost equal number of boys and girls (participants) is expected, so male facilitators ....best of luck =)
4. Farhana and I had a grand tour around the school. Saw the hall, toilets, classrooms, canteen, and field. The hall is small, but sufficient, the field big, but soggy, the toilets few in number, but specklessly clean, the classrooms....well...just like classrooms. We made several polite requests on the way we wanted the hall and classrooms, and all were graciously accepted with promises.
5. We checked out the backdrop of the hall. It was only a blackboard, but would look very becoming with the artistic touch of some talented facilitators. Sleeping chambers are yet to be determined by the teachers, but we are definitely sleeping in either the classrooms or the library.
I observed that there were no pails/ scoops ('gayung') to bathe with. =) will have to bring our own i guess. THats all i remember for now, although we talked about a whole bunch of things this morning. THe trip there was uneventful as there was only 2 of us this time round. Will report again soon. BYE!

hi everyone
firstly i would like to apologize for not being at the second meeting . this is due to a series of bad luck that struck me after the raya holidays. my poor kancil was submerged for the whole night in a flood in kelantan. that was why i ws delayed in kelantan unable too come back to jb on the 27th dec. i was without a car for the whole week it felt as though one of my leg was cut off it was so troublesome. not to mention the sercive wasn't cheap a demanding rm 1000. finally when i got the car kicking, i managed to get to melaka for a wedding it was a fateful weekend ... so after my cousin's wedding james and i drove back to jb on a saturday . upon ariving in jb we were shocked to hear of our cousin's death which happened after the wedding. it was so sad to lose such a young cousin . so that night we rushed to the melaka hospital and stayed in melaka for about 5 days. that was why i am not able to come back to attend the meetings.
anyway i knew from farhana that i am in charge of the food department so hopefully i can be of use to the team . see you guys

For the selection of the lesson plan for the games to be used during the language camp, there are only four which has been selected by Mr Ghazali, namely the ones by Christina and partner, Harison and partner, Farah and partner, and Nurzarimah and partner. Not much development in this part of selecting, but for this moment Mazlia, the gamemaster has told me and suggested three more lesson plans from these pairs, which are Shamila, Puy Yih and partner, Sharifah and partner. This we will have to consult to the director first, which is Farhana. Therefore the evaluating and selecting is still going on for 3 more lesson plans to make it approximately ten in all.

Saturday, January 19, 2002

Hi everyone,
Christina, Pn. Harrison and I saw Encik Asram on 18th January. Our mission was to give him the L1 and L2, as earlier requested, and also to obtain the letter of approval and materials promised to be given to us for the camp. We decided to see him as early as 8.00 in the morning. Sure enough, Encik Asram was there. We voiced our needs and Encik Asram gave supportive consent.
THere is a problem though. We requested to get the materials and letter of approval from him as soon as posible. As the camp is scheduled to be held on the 2nd and 3rd of February, arrangements and preparations would have to be carried out very soon. However, Encik Asram explained that there was no way we could get the materials any earlier than the 28th of February. He mentioned something about the time needed for the process of removing stock from the store, and also that he would be away during the nearest weekend, which left him no choice, but to delay our request.
When the subject of the letter of approval came up, he asked us to collect it along with the materials on 28th January. We walked out of the office with a heavy heart that morning. I SMSed Farhana as soon as I got home, reporting the latest news I had in hand, but our discussion ended in vain.
I called the school earlier in the week to seek final confirmation of the consent we were promised when we first visited the school. They voiced their enthusiasm about the camp, but also confessed that they may have problems arranging for the provision of food during the camp. We were told that the school's funds were running low as they had been facing flood problems in school and had spent a great deal of money in repair and renovation. That was why they could not give us a certain approval at the time of the meeting. To make matters worse, the headmistress was away on sick leave, so the P.K. Hem had to ointeract with her via phone to get opinions and decisions.
The second time I called the school was a week after our visit there (the first time i called was to make an appontment to see the PK Hem). THe PK Hem gave the similar answer- that they were keen but could not give a certain answer yet. I was told to call back the following day, and so i did. This third call was productive. I got the green light from her (which brought a big smile to many faces). THus i attempted to make another appointment for us to see her and discuss unsettled issues such as; a) whether the school teachers would be participating in the camp, b) whether we would have 'foster parents' if we were not able to stay in the school, c) whether the hall could accomodate the games and plans we had for the camp, ETC. She requested for us to call them back anytime next week whenever we were ready to see them. We would have to show them the letter of approval from the university this time. (BIG TROUBLE because we will not get it till the 28th)
Hence, the problem persists. No letter, no bus, No materials, no teaching aids. We would have less than a week to make preparations for the camp if we were to proceed with the current circumstances. Discussions have been made with the president and she said she would tell me the situation after a discussion with Mr. G.
Thats all for now folks. Take care and good luck.

our second meeting was on 10/1/2002. we had choose one of our design and all of us agree with that. then, we collected some black t-shirt from our friends. some of them told us that they cannort fint the blank black t-shirt. it's ok if the t-shirt have a small picture in front as long as we can print it.then,we have to make the design again and find a block to print.we didn't discuss about the color that we will use but we will discuss it later. first of all. we have to collect t-shirts from all members to print and we will print it all together.for this meeting, we only discuss about the t-shirt first because it take times to settle it.the other things like material that will used in language camp and where to find it, we will discuss it in another meeting.
I fixed the Gameplan clock. Thanks to Banchee and Christina for their continuous efforts in searching for my errors :). And here is the note for last week class:

Multiple Intelligences (H. Gardner)

Overview:

The theory of multiple intelligences suggests that there are a number of distinct forms of intelligence that each individual possesses in varying degrees. Gardner proposes seven primary forms: linguistic, musical, logical-mathematical, spatial, body-kinesthetic, intrapersonal (e.g., insight, metacognition) and interpersonal (e.g., social skills).

According to Gardner, the implication of the theory is that learning/teaching should focus on the particular intelligences of each person. For example, if an individual has strong spatial or musical intelligences, they should be encouraged to develop these abilities. Gardner points out that the different intelligences represent not only different content domains but also learning modalities. A further implication of the theory is that assessment of abilities should measure all forms of intelligence, not just linguistic and logical-mathematical.

Gardner also emphasizes the cultural context of multiple intelligences. Each culture tends to emphasize particular intelligences. For example, Gardner (1983) discusses the high spatial abilities of the Puluwat people of the Caroline Islands, who use these skills to navigate their canoes in the ocean. Gardner also discusses the balance of personal intelligences required in Japanese society.

The theory of multiple intelligences shares some common ideas with other theories of individual differences such as Cronbach & Snow, Guilford, and Sternberg .

Scope/Application:

The theory of multiple intelligences has been focused mostly on child development although it applies to all ages. While there is no direct empirical support for the theory, Gardner (1983) presents evidence from many domains including biology, anthropology, and the creative arts and Gardner (1993a) discusses application of the theory to school programs. Gardner (1982, 1993b) explores the implications of the framework for creativity (see also Marks-Tarlow, 1995).

Example:

Gardner (1983, p 390) describes how learning to program a computer might involve multiple intelligences:

"Logical-mathematical intelligence seems central, because programming depends upon the deployment of strict procedures to solve a problem or attain a goal in a finite number of steps. Linguistic intelligence is also relevant, at least as long as manual and computer languages make use of ordinary language...an individual with a strong musical bent might best be introduced to programming by attempting to program a simple musical piece (or to master a program that composes). An individual with strong spatial abilities might be initiated through some form of computer graphics -- and might be aided in the task of programming through the use of a flowchart or some other spatial diagram. Personal intelligences can play important roles. The extensive planning of steps and goals carried out by the individual engaged in programming relies on intrapersonal forms of thinking, even as the cooperation needed for carrying a complex task or for learning new computational skills may rely on an individual's ability to work with a team. Kinesthetic intelligence may play a role in working with the computer itself, by facilitating skill at the terminal..."

Principles:

1. Individuals should be encouraged to use their preferred intelligences in learning.

2. Instructional activities should appeal to different forms of intelligence.

3. Assessment of learning should measure multiple forms of intelligence.

Time test. The time now is 11.24 a.m.. Thanks to my trustworthy Casio Illuminator.
Let’s me bring you guys through my own world!! What I had done for language camp. Wednesday (09/01/02) me, Farhana, Christina n Puh Yih went to meet DR Hafiz regarding the approval. He approved our proposal and asked us to meet En Asram. However En Asram wasn’t in his office. So for the next mission we decided to go to Ayer Manis School the next day. We started our journey at 9.10 am with no map at all. No extra petrol, not even food just with a SMS direction by Azura. Went to a new place that we not have been there before. The most scary is that we just a girl, such an adorable girls. What if someone kidnaps us?? What should we do?? There’s no police station.. can even find a house?? ARGHH.. anyway coz we have the fellowship of the ring and also some power from Harry Potter..we managed to find the school by the helped of our own instinct. Eheeeh.. met the Penolong Kanan Pn….. you all knew what happen right!! Farhana n Christina had inform everything in their report. After that Farhana and I went to meet En Asram again. But he still wasn’t at his office. He had a meeting. So we decided that we would meet him again on Monday.

On Monday I went to the office with Farhana. We still haven’t met him coz this time he is on his leave.. Hiskkk… this man huh.. so difficult to find.. we went back… frustrated. Went I went back home, I saw En Asram was to busy painted the wall .. CESSS.. on leave just to paint his house L on Tuesday I went to En. Asram office again.. This time farizal and Christine will be company me.. more like my bodyguards.. ahakss we supposed to meet at 8.30. I went there earlier and En Asram was there but somehow I still waiting for Farizal n Christina. Then suddenly En Asram went out.. AHHH not again… Christina SMS me told that she would no be coming coz she had to send her aunt to hospital. At that time I just wish she had SMS me earlier. But maybe it was an emergency so she forgotten to SMS me.well nevermind about it. I also got SMS for one of the PR. He said that he would be late. Aghh What a heck!! What for you went to meet him but you were late about 20 minutes. At that time I probably have finish.. discussing about it. after class, once again i went to En asram's office. he was there and i discuss about the approval with him. he asked me about the L1 n L2 and also the surat permohonan to dean.. i told Farhana about it n also went to MR G 's office asked him about the L1 n L2. he said that he still in the process doing it.. he will gives me the L1 n L2 as soon as possible.. so Mr G have fun with the assignment huh!! :) heheheh... there's go my report. till fingertip meet keyboard again..
good evening everyone,
this morning at 8.20, puy yih, kak harison and i went to meet Encik Asram. we had to hand in the letter for our Dean along with the L1 and L2. and in return, we need Encik Asram to give us the green light, which is none other than the approval letter and the materials needed for the camp. he told us that this is not a problem but with condition that we have to return certain materials such as scissors, glue etc... but there is a PROBLEM. he can only give us the materials on 28th, the soonest because they're only allowed to take these materials from the store room once a week. and he will not be around for a few days and that just left next week to take the materials.:( we did inform him that we need the materials as soon as possible as we still need to make preparations. and another bad news is we will only be getting the approval letter on 28th too. :( we are worried that we might need the letter during our second trip to the school... so, let us just pray that everything will go on smoothly and in time...

Thursday, January 17, 2002

our first meeting was on 3/1/2002,was about to discuss andchoose again the commity members and i'm under the material department. during that meeting,we have decidedto make t-shirt for the language game and the color that we have chosen is black.then, Banci wants us to create the design for the t-shirt.she want just a simple design and not use much color on it. that work we have to do as individually first to design it and we will choose the suitable one.after that, we have decided to make a name tag and for this job Banci will create it by herself.then, we have discuss about the color that we want to use for the t-shirt and the tag. the color that we have choose like white, red or yellow but we only choose one color.besides that, we also think about the materials that will be used during the language camp and for these materials, we have to wait until all the presentation finished.

Tuesday, January 15, 2002

The last meeting, on the 10/1/2001, was held for the high exco of the committee. Farhana gave a briefing of the latest development for all the departments, stating also the initial visit they had to the particular school we’ll be going. Banchee also mentioned in the meeting about getting the t-shirts collected as soon as possible, and reminded us to bring our own on next Monday. For the programme coordinators, which I am under its supervision as the gamemaster assistant, we have to move on with our tasks much faster than the other departments. Wan Suhaimi and Azlinawati (as programme coordinators) and Mazlia and me (as gamemaster and gamemaster assistant) will collect all the previous games presented by the earlier groups in the class to pick out the best and used them for the camp. For this moment, the plan was to gather the lesson plans from the groups first. Later, we will sit together and discuss about the selecting.

Thursday , 10
I am from materials Department. We have decided the color of T-Shirt (in the last meeting) that was black. The design of the t-shirt itself also have already pick out. It designed by Banchee (NorAzlinda Mahmood). Basically, the design of T-shirt should/ must be simple in order to make it easy in painting session. There are about 28 t-Shirt to paint. Mak E.T (Siti Sabariah) did very nice design but it seems like hard to make it. The text color on the T-shirt is yellow in color, which is put at the back on the T-Shirt. Actually, the t-shirt is not too much to worry but in order to make the programs become prestige that is one of the ways. We decided to collect black t-Shirt this (14/Jan/2002). Besides that, we also have to think about the banner that will be displayed on that day at Sek. Men Sg. Manis. It is hard to do the cooperation with other participants in Material Department can make easy for to work to goes smoothly. Go material Dept! Go! The date is coming near and near. I’m quite interested to go because I never involve any language camp before even though I’m busy with my PSM. This is my first camp. Hopefully, I will gain some experience there and it will become one of sweet memory.
Assalamualaikum..
This is the continuation of my previous report. Where did I stop? Emmm, yes, after we met Dr. Hafiz on Wednesday evening. Then, the next day (Thursday), we went to the school as early as we could get up from our inviting bed. Ha ha ha you know how its feel to leave the warm and cozy bed. We managed to resist the seduction (if I could term it as that) anyway.
We went there with Christina’s car. I asked Azura to accompany us that morning so that she could lead us to the school, but she had a class so she could not make it. So with the guide of her SMS, we went there without having any clue of the place. We started our journey at 9.00 a.m. and went toward Kulai. The journey seems to be long. May be it is because we didn’t know the place. So we feel like years traveling in the car. I enjoyed the travel anyway, cause I felt that our relationship with each other getting stronger cause we never stop talking from one topic to another. Sometimes you find someone you not familiar with is quite fun to have a light discussion with.
In about 40 minutes, we reached the school. It’s amazing that we didn’t get lost even though we were only guide with a few lines of Azura’s SMS. May be it is also because Banchee knows a bit about the highway and Kulai. The school is small, located near the main road, in renovation and the students are all so petite! So cute! We went straight to the PK HEM, she was waiting for us since Puy Yih has set the appointment with her at 10 a.m. The headmaster wasn’t in, he is resting at home after he met with an accident in September last year. We discussed about the programme with Puan Halimah (the PK HEM) and the English Language Panitia (En. Azhar). So the result of our discussion is positive. They agreed with our proposal but they can’t confirm it yet cause they have to have a meeting first. But basically they like our proposal and the idea of having the language camp. The headmaster, contacted by Puan Halimah at home, definitely agreed with the camp. However they will need to conduct the meeting with the particular teachers to discuss on the cost and budget. They will contact us in a week time when they have done with the meeting.
Anyhow, they may want us to change the proposed tentative. Instead of having night activity and students staying overnight at the school, they would like to have the night activity be replaced with a full day activity on Sunday (03/02/02). It means that we will stay overnight at the school without our students. I hope you all don’t mind being bitten by the mosquitoes and bugs for a night. Bring your thick blanket and may be Ridsect!
We may also have mix level of students since they can’t give us 100 students from the same standard. So may be we have half from standard 5 and half from standard 6. After considering the school condition, with the renovation on going, flood, just open after the long school holidays, so we told Pn. Halimah that we will try to help them with the budget, so those in the sponsorship unit especially and all of us need to do something to get the sponsor and help the school.
Any questions about our meeting with the school? Just forward your queries to me, though I don’t know how to get in the blog spot to comment and answer but I will find the way and ask around. To all of you, thanks for the cooperation. Best of luck!!!

After we went to the school last week, we had some things to finalise with the school. I am supposed to call the school this morning, but am having problems connecting. Will try again in just a moment or so and then tell all of you about it. Will be back in a jiffy.

hai yah what else i want to write huh!! they all have already witten about what heppening for this couple of days.. hmmm.. well never mindlah.. i think first for a while.. see ya all.. keep on the good work okey..
Assalamualaikum.
How are you guys? Hope that you are all in the most stable condition. Okay, I am here to report about the language camp. After spending two to three days improving on the previous language camp proposal, I finally came out with a new proposal with the help of our vice secretary, Hani (thanks Hani, I should have inform you earlier before I asked Zarim to send it to you, sorry dear!) and with the guide of Kak Harison, I showed the latest version of the proposal to Mr. Ghazali, our advisor, at 4.30 p.m on last Tuesday (08/1/02). Yeah, I have to do a bit improvement on the proposal after he has checked it for me, luckily it’s not to many mistakes. Though I found myself a little tired cause I have to run here and there, I have to take it as a responsibility that I have to carry on my back. I’m lucky to have all of you. ….
Then, I ran back to my room, started to do the correction and called Banchee for the material list. For your information, I have arranged the tentative, the camp budget based on my own consideration (cause I was typing it alone and Hani inserted the name list on her own at her place, so we could not discuss), it will not be fixed that way, and still be opened for rescheduling and correction, but you may want to take a look on it, especially for the treasurer and program coordinators. So, if anything goes wrong just let me know.
Next morning, which is Wednesday (09/01/02), I asked Hani, Puy Yih and Christina to follow me to see the KJ. Banchee agreed to help since she has nothing to do that time, more over, I knew nothing about the procedure. Hah, never involve in this kind of business before…I think I have done a mistake here, I should have inform Farizal (PRO) earlier about our meeting with the KJ, so many things that’s in my head that I forgot to let him know. So sorry Farizal, it’s really my mistake. So we ended up going with two PROs with the Banchee to see the KJ. However he wasn’t in that time (we went around 10.00a.m). so we set an appointment with him at 3.00 p.m. And once again your unorganized director made a mistake by not informing Kak Harison earlier to come together for the meeting. I tried to call Farizal so that he can make it for the second meeting but he was too busy with the career fair that I left a message to Hairul (who was also there that time, but didn’t silent up or turned his handset off). So, again we went to the faculty at 3 something in the evening, there were 4 of us. Met him for about 10 minutes, he approved our proposal and asked us to see En. Asram for the sponsorship of the material. I felt a bit relieved but still exhausted. Thanks to Puy Yih, Christina and Banchee. However we couldn’t see En. Asram that time because he wasn’t in so we planned to see him some other time.
I have planned to go to the school (Sek Keb Ayer Manis) the next day (Thursday), and the three of them agreed with the plan.
I got to stop writing now, I will continue with my report next time. I couldn’t think right now. But before I end, may I ask for apologies once again for those people who I carelessly informed late about anything, for instance, for the meeting, I am so sorry, I just don’t remember. So many things that I think about. I know this I s not a concrete reason, so do forgive me. Would you be kind enough to ask me anything about the language camp that relate to your post so that I could be reminded, sometimes you couldn’t just expect me to tell it to you, cause I might forget, so could you please ask me next time…… sorry once again.

Dear friends and Mr. G,
Yesterday morning, (10/2), me, banchee, py and farhana went to the school. phew....you wouldn't know how much fear we had just worrying how to find the place. at 8am, puy yih called the school and got to speak with the Penolong Kanan (sorry, i just couldn't think of the english version right now) and told her about our intention of setting an english camp there. she was surprised and did not know what to say, so puy yih told her, we will be there at 10am. so, at 9am sharp , we started our journey, err...more like an adventure as none of us have been to kulai and what's more a place called sedenak. so, we followed azura's direction to the place. take the highway, turn in Sedenak toll and go straight and the school is on the left. sounds like a piece of cake huh? we thought so too...
then, after we paid the toll, we were surprised to see there's a traffic light and on the left is some place with a funny name (i forgot) and on the right is kulai. banchee asked me to turn left and the rest asked me to turn right. and i went bonkers....LOL..it's very hard to be a driver at times. in the end, we went the kulai way. we continued to go along some roads which puy yih described as an uncivilised world. LOL. there were no houses, only big trucks and some abandoned lands. we came to another junction and again we had to decide which turn to take. we went the kulai way once again hoping that we are right. then to make things worst, my petrol tank wasn't full. omigosh...we are doomed!! we are going to die in some strange land.ahhahahah.....
then at last, we came across a small warung and banchee quickly jumped down to ask for directions. she came back smiling and announced that we were all the while right and the school is only 2 km away. :D after that, we were all smilling and so proud of our selves and counting the distance until we have driven 2km. at last, we reached the school. it's a newly renovated and big school. we went goo goo gaga over the little and adorable pupils there. they reminded us of our young days. the Penolong Kanan received us and took us to her room.the headmaster wasn't around at time as he was involved in an accident and resting at home. we proceeded in explaining our purpose and she called the headmaster for advice. then, she called the head of english teachers in to discuss the plan together. basically, the school is very keen of the idea and the only minor problem is the financial part. money to sponsor our makan and the pupils too. this is because the area had just recovered from flood and parents had already spent so much to buy stuff for their children before school reopens and not to mention there are still many who haven't paid the school fees. so money is a problem for most people. lodgings is not a problem because according to them , they have many tents and classrooms. we talked about the date also as they find it abit rush and we couldn't decide another suitable time. suggested dates like 9th is not possible because the school is closed for chinese new year and 23rd is a public holiday. sigh.....so in the end, we settled on 2nd and 3rd.
the school will inform us of their final decision in a week time. so, friends, let's hope that they will agree and we can proceed. that's all for now...see you...:)
by the way...where is the guestbook for this weblog??
Hello...I didn't know we have to come here now if Mr G didnt sign my guestbook and asked me to write something here..hahah well thank you Mr.G. Okay now let's see what I know and what I have to say.. wow..i have to type like 200 words eh..well I missed the first meeting.. sorry about that guys..
Okay well I was informed by Fyla and Christina that in the first meeting we were divided into different groups.. and me..being the lost sheep was put under the technical department..which means Banchee's my boss..ahhaha :) We are asked to buy black t-shirts for ourselves on which we will print the 'Language Game 2002' logo.
Today, we decided on the design, which was done by Banchee..and we decided to have it on the front of the t-shirt... I must say it is a simple yet nice design..as it is cute and very 'campy' like. We will be printing it ourselves.. can't wait for that to happen..gonna be real interesting I would say :) My mom is an art teacher and I have seen her printing t-shirts..looks like fun :) Well, that's what happens in this camp ..work and fun i guess.. I read all the other's comments..gee i am like left behind here..hehe no fear! You shall see more of me heheh :) And all the stuff that you guys have done...Good Work.. hope that I will be able to contribute just as much..and may us all put in our best..although we only have like what..2 weeks to the dateline of PSM *shudder*

LECTURE NOTE (as promised)

Experiential Learning taken from http://www.gwu.edu/~tip/rogers.html

Overview:
Rogers distinquished two types of learning: cognitive (meaningless) and experiential(significant). The former corresponds to academic knowledge such as learning vocabulary or multiplication tables and the latter refers to applied knowledge such as learning about engines in order to repair a car. The key to the distinction is that experiential learning addresses the needs and wants of the learner. Rogers lists these qualities of experiential learning: personal involvement, self-initiated, evaluated by learner, and pervasive effects on learner. To Rogers, experiential learning is equivalent to personal change and growth. Rogers feels that all human beings have a natural propensity to learn; the role of the teacher is to facilitate such learning. This includes:
(1) setting a positive climate for learning,
(2) clarifying the purposes of the learner(s),
(3) organizing and making available learning resources,
(4) balancing intellectual and emotional components of learning, and
(5) sharing feelings and thoughts with learners but not dominating.
According to Rogers, learning is facilitated when:
(1) the student participates completely in the learning process and has control over its nature and direction,
(2) it is primarily based upon direct confrontation with practical, social, personal or research problems, and
(3) self-evaluation is the principal method of assessing progress or success. Rogers also emphasizes the importance of learning to learn and an openness to change.

Roger's theory of learning evolved as part of the humanistic education movement (e.g., Patterson, 1973; Valett, 1977).

Scope/Application:
Roger's theory of learning originates from his views about psychotherapy and humanistic approach to psychology. It applies primarily to adult learners and has influenced other theories of adult learning such as Knowles and Cross. Combs (1982) examines the significance of Roger's work to education. Rogers & Frieberg (1994) discuss applications of the experiential learning framework to the classroom.

Example:
A person interested in becoming rich might seek out books or classes on ecomomics, investment, great financiers, banking, etc. Such an individual would perceive (and learn) any information provided on this subject in a much different fashion than a person who is assigned a reading or class.

Principles:
1. Significant learning takes place when the subject matter is relevant to the personal interests of the student
2. Learning which is threatening to the self (e.g., new attitudes or perspectives) are more easily assimilated when external threats are at a minimum
3. Learning proceeds faster when the threat to the self is low
4. Self-initiated learning is the most lasting and pervasive.

Comment on Christina n Zarim report.. Zarim - bout the switching post of you.. from PRO to Transportation.. well i think it's a good decision coz we have 3 PRO left anyway. BTW it's a good exercise for you to went to Pejabat Kerjaya Raya.. heheh just kidding... regarding the approval for the transportation. For your information it's will be okey if you just have the approval from faculty. You don't need approval from HEP because Faculty is the one who responsibility for our program.. not involved HEP at all.. what you need to do is just get the approval from Farhana. Take form for booking the bus from Pengarah Kerja.. complete the form and also include our tentative programme.. when we supposed to go and when we supposed to go back.. the time.. date.. place must be included. that's all you have to do.. anyway, it will be better if you just get the form first. Christina - tommorow we will have to deal with the headmaster. Need to meet he/she tomorrow at 9 am. so sleep early n wake up early huh.. heheh.. BTW sorry for the late to met Dr hafiz yesterday. It was my faulted after all. Get up late ma.. Anyway just hope today we have a great journey and we will get the approval from the headmaster.
good evening everyone.
this morning, i and a few other commitee members went to look for Dr. Hafiz but he was not in. The clerk told us, he might be around at 3pm and so we left him a note informing him that we would like to meet him at that time. In my heart, i was thinking of having to wake up from my precious afternoon nap just to go inside campus to see Dr. Hafiz pen his signature on the proposal :(. anyway, after that, i rushed home to get some sleep before the appointment. i arrived at 3pm only to find out i was the only one there. i peeped inside Dr. Hafiz's room to see whether he was in. i saw a thin, small sized man in the room. then, i quickly sms farhana to ask if they have come and left or they have not arrived yet. i was worried if i were late. then puy yih arrived and we waited together. we still did not know how Dr. Hafiz looked like and that thin small size man was walking in and out of Dr. Hafiz's room. puy yih and i were afraid that the man might be Dr. Hafiz himself and from the way he was moving around non-stop, we were discussing if we should go to meet him first. but then , i remembered farhana's message that asked us to wait for her. hehehehe...being obedient people like us, we decided to follow our director's instruction.
farhana and banchee arrived shortly and we quickly went inside Dr. Hafiz 's room. after answering some questions regarding the camp, he finally signed our proposal. phew.....then we were asked to see Mr. Asram as well but unfortunately he was not in. so, we waited at the sofa again and while waiting, farhana briefed us on tomorrow's task which is to visit the school. we were quite worried as none of us have been to the school before. the only map we have was azura's directions to the school. somehow, we still need to try our luck as time is really running out. finally, i was appointed the driver for tomorrow. hehehehe....the journey will take approximately 35 minutes. do hope that everything will go smoothly tomorrow. bye......:)

last wednesday is our first meeting. Farhana as a president of the program has done a good job to call out the meeting and i think all the members of language game presented. good job!!!
For your information, during the community selection with Mr.G, i was selected into PRO, but i changed to transportation unit together with Siti Wahida. that means both of us have to make sure that we could get a bus to the school for the camp. At the moment, we are still waiting for the proposal before we could ask for a bus at Pengarah Kerja. i hope we could get the proposal by this week as the language camp will be held early this february and i have to ask for a bus at least 1 month before the program.
well, i just wondering...if we are asking for a bus, should we get an approval from HEP? or only the approval from faculty will be ok? i think this is it from me...more reports to come...thank you...and if any of you do have suggestions for Transportation Unit please let us know...bye...

Comment and suggestion on Farhana's report- well, Farhana as what you mention in your report regarding some of our friends who don't even know that we have a meeting coz you in hurry. i don't even think that is was your fault after all.. coz what i seen is all our friends who are not in our class, they still come for the meeting. You had already called them right.. Maybe just Anyway.. regarding the time management.. we should take this seriously, about the starting of meeting.. as you know, our first meeting should be started at 9 am.. but some of us come late almost 30 minutes.. and the rest of us who came early have to wait... this is not a good way of attitude..coz i believe all of us have our own responsibilty right.. we should consider about others too...and Farhana- you have done a great job!! anyway.. hope we all can work as a team and give our commitment for the work that we should be responsible..and not forget we should also help each other in order to make this language camp become truth..

Yesterday… for the first time we had a language camp meeting, conducted by Miss Farhana, the president of Language camp. The meeting started a bit late coz some of my friends are not there. Its all started with a clear briefing from Miss Farhana bout the post of each community. As for Siti sabariah and I, we are responsibility for the material department. Where by we shall have to design tag, t-shirt and banner for the language games. Mak Iti, Fila, Rubiah, Mangala, and Ziana – Miss you all so much.. WELCOME BACK!! And of course as we all knew.. we are ARTISTIC.. we are HARDWORKING.. we love to WORK as a TEAM.. and to Mone and Marshiee.. Nice to have you guys in our team.. Let’s us make everything went smooth as we wished for and don’t forget about the design that we supposed to do. The design of t-shirt for our language camp. Each of us, have to design anything that appropriate with the language camp and submit it on Thursday (next week) after Language Game’s class to me or Mak Iti. A meeting also will be held on that day. One more thing, all of you have to give a black t-shirt to anyone from Material Department for the language games t-shirt. T-shirt must be Black in colour ( a blank black t-shirt). By the way, if you interested in buying a blank t-shirt, you can’t look at Tun Aminah The Store or Parkson Ria at Skudai Parade. The price is RM 15 (Bontton t-shirt). Happy working guys.

Assalamualaikum...
To all the students of Language Games class, I would like to anounce that you can start sending your report to this gameplan. What to write? Oh you can report about what we have discussed in our first big meeting, what you are assigned to do, what you have done for the coming language camp, basically it's about your contribution to make the langauge camp comes true. Okay.... Do I make myself clear here? That's all, thank you....
Hi.
How to begin to write in this game plan? Should be more formal or can I make it like what I have done for my diaryland? No one can answer me at the moment of me typing this so I guess I do it my way (Frank Sinatra loves to do it too!).
Yes, last fe days (2 January 2002) we had our first big meeting for the language camp. All the students of SHE 4932 should attend the meeting but it didn't appear as it should be and please pardon me for my mistake of not giving you all an early notice about the meeting through memo. I was in hurry and wasn't thinking much when I decided to do it. I grabbed the opportunity of us not having the ESP class in the morning to have our meeting instead. Hope you all can forgive me there.
However, as the director the meeting went like I planned. We have agreed with the place. Since Azura (secretary) has the contact with someone in one of the schools in Kulai, which is Sek. Keb Air Manis (about 35 minutes of journey from Skudai), and after majority votes of conducting the camp in suburb area, so it is agreed that we have our language camp there.
The date of the language camp is agreed to be on 9 and 10 of January 2002 considering the suggested dates given by Mr. Ghazali, but a few of the members think that we need to reschedule it so I have negotiated on the date with Mr. Ghazali to do it a week earlier. Means that we will have it on 2 and 3 January 2002. It's in a month time. It also indicates that we need to do our work extremely in full speed!!! So all of us must be ready with whatever tasks going to be distributed!.
And then, I also divided and announced tasks for each of the committee member and they from here, will have to start doing the work. Roughly the tasks for the committees are as follow:
w Secretary - minutes of meeting
- memo to call for meeting
- tentative program (consultation with program coordinator)
- prepare the booklet (consultation with program coordinator)
- list of the post

w Assistant Secretary - working paper (close collaboration with the director and assistant director)
- letter for sponsorship (if we need any)
- letter for the school
- prepare the booklet and tentative program together with the Secretary
- name list

w Treasurer - collect RM 5.00 from the members for the camp fund (to cover some expenses like car petrol of the PRO, photocopy, materials and so forth)
- prepare a budget
- take care of the flow of the account (debit and credit)
- souvenirs for the school (work together with the sponsorship unit.
w Program Coordinator - gather all the games and choose the best to be inserted in the activity
- decide on the tentative (i.e. what game to play at what time, when is the opening ceremony, etc)
- design a short course (at least one week before the camp) for the facilitators so that they know how to conduct the games (i.e. briefing)
w Materials Department - name tag
- banner
- t-shirt
- games material (let the treasurer know what you need and may be get some of the material through sponsorship unit).
- opening and closing ceremony (the backdrop)
w PRO - discuss the language camp with the school (date, place to sleep, food)
- meet the head department of Social Science for the approval and sponsorship (close collaboration with the Director, assistant director, sponsorship unit)
- opening and closing ceremony (chair person)
- any other relevant events
w Discipline Unit - observing the attendance of the members
- security and safety of the students during the camp

I also decided to have another unit which are sponsorship unit, transportation unit and refreshment unit. Two other new posts are Game Master and the Game master Assistant who will work in hand with program coordinator to manage the games. The rest of the class. I mean those without any post will automatically go under Material Department because I strongly believe that this department need many hands. The complete list of the post will be in the Game Plan as soon as the secretary and I get the list. For further details of the meeting you can always refer to our secretary minutes of meeting which will be updated through this Game Plan.
I would like to remind all of you about the attendance, I have asked the discipline unit to carefully watch the consistency of your attendance during each meeting and your participations in any events that we are going to have, so on my part, I would suggest that all of us could give our fullest cooperation and commitment so that we do not face any troubles at the end.
If you have any queries or dissatisfaction you can always come to me. I guess I have to end my report here. Thank you.
Happy working!!!
