REFLECTION (DURING THE LANGUAGE CAMP)

On 11st October 2014, my friends and I represented Universiti Teknologi Malaysia as the facilitators for a language camp, which was held at SK Kota Masai 2. As facilitators, we are required to assist the organizer of the camp to take care of each group that had been set.
Arriving at SK Kota Masai 2, we gathered at the back of the school hall. Then, the stationeries were distributed to all the facilitators. The director of the camp described the tentative program and the details of each activity. In addition, he also told us the things that must be considered and assigned a group to each of us. Once we have understood the instructions of the director, we headed off to the front of the hall to gather our group members. In my group, there were eight members including me.
As a facilitator of the group Dragonball, I lead the members to participate in the activities. Students’ participation in the activities is a valuable part of the overall language camp. I discovered that the activities supported the language improvement of students. The activities also provided opportunities for character development and learning universal values – teamwork, leadership, self-discipline and hard work. Therefore, I encouraged the students to participate in all the activities.
All the students engaged in the activities actively. They were very excited to join the skit competition. They provided full cooperation to the organizer by following the instructions given by the facilitators. The relationship between facilitators and students was very good because most students greeted us politely. Lastly, the language camp was ended with the prize-giving ceremony.
