During the time being a primary school language camp facilitator...

During the language camp, I was totally in surprised because there were many things which were unexpected. At the beginning, I felt a bit uneasy because most of my students were shy to introduce themselves in the ice-breaking session. Perhaps, they were not used to active learning activities and this made them felt odd. However, when it came to charade, all of the students were excited because it was a competition and it required one of their friends to act out. This led to their active participation. They were enjoyed to have competitions and activities that required movements. Similarly, they were also enjoyed with the win, lose or draw game. However, when it was the tandem writing time, most of them were tired and sleepy. At this time, I realized that they were unable to contribute ideas in the activity anymore. So, I decided to cut down some of the tasks and let them had a break. After having break, they were recharged and able to continue with the drama preparation. Again, I realize that they like activities that allow them to move around. When it was about to end, they were still active because they enjoyed seeing their friends performed on the stage. As compared to the writing activity, they showed better participation in games that resembled competitions and required movements.

Generally, though there were many unexpected things happened, but we did try our best to make the language camp a success. It was tiring, yet meaningful. J
