Reflection of the Negotiation Camp (Nur Amirah)

Good day people!

The negotiation camp was indeed a valuable experience for me as it was my first time conducting a language camp for older students. Definitely it was different compared to handling school kids. However, this camp has taught me that good teamwork, supportive members and awesome cooperation are the main keys towards a successful event. All of us worked hard and supported each other throughout the day of the event and it was splendid despite the drawbacks and errors that occurred. Every one carried out their task pretty well and that contributed to the smooth-sailing success of the negotiation camp.

Besides that, experience as a facilitator was also something that I attained from the negotiation camp because handling participants whom their English proficiency and also their confidence level are as good as you; or may be better, made me nervous somehow. Some of the participants were so good and confident in speaking and it really awed me. But it is a good thing because with the good speaking skill that they have, it was nice to talk and chat with them naturally. Despite all this, the highlight of being a facilitator was to gain their participation and interests into the camp. It's not the same as trying to get small kids to pay attention to you, you have to really impress them somehow and make them want to listen to you without them not paying attention. Apart from that, as the environment of the venue was not so conducive and comfortable due to the hotness, it was rather difficult to maintain my enthusiasm throughout the camp but thankfully, I was able to regain the enthusiasm again and again, and of course, the participants' enthusiasm as well.

All in all, the negotiation camp went on smoothly with support from each of the members as well as guidance from Mr. G who was there with us and that totally motivated all of us to succeed until the end of the camp. With all the experiences and encounters throughout the camp, I believe all of us gained something new from the camp. The technical difficulties and small errors during the camp is something that we can improvise on if there are any other language camps to be handled in the future.

A good experience indeed. Thank you.

I saw how you handled your team and I think you did great. Good job, Mira! ^^
