My Reflection on the Language Camp (Syahirah)

Assalamualaikum and Hello everyone!

Finally, we are done with our negotiation camp. It was very memorable camp. Congratulations to all my classmates. We sacrificed a lot and put a lot of efforts to make this camp go smoothly and we managed to do it.

As for me, being a facilitator is not easy.  I need to handle the team well and made them cooperate with each other. At first it was quite hard to make them cooperate with each other since they were not familiar with their group members. In the first game, I noticed that the participants mostly like to work only with the members that in the same section with them.  However, after played a few games they managed to work in team and did well in every game. Other than that, I also need to give clear explanation about the games once the participants failed to digest what the games master asked them to do. It was also quite hard for me because sometimes I not sure the suitable words that I should use in order to make them understand. Sometimes, I asked for the games master’s help. However, since all the participants got the lesson plans with them, it made them easy to understand the flow the games once they refer to the lesson plans and listen to the instructions given by the games masters and facilitators.

In my opinion, the idea of giving the stars to the students was a good idea. I noticed that all of the members in my group were eager to participate in each game and tried their best to win the games as to collect many stars. They tend to be motivated when they got a lot of stars and showed more interest to perform others games.

We gained a lot of experiences from this camp. We had so much fun on that day. I am looking forward to have this kind of camp next time. Congratulations again guys! Even there were few problems, but we managed to handle the camp.

I agree with you Syahirah. Giving stars to the students indeed making them become more eager to participate in each game. Giving stars to the students can be considered as one of the reinforcements that can be used not only during the camp but also in the classroom.
