so guyz, do you ready for this a- brand -new lang camp, a chance of us to get together to add to our corpus of memories.
there wil be a diff in this coming camp. the participant wil be the final year student, meaning they wil be in the same age as ours. that wil call for another approach in dealing with this young-adult persona. hahah lotsa assignment coming, feel the true feeling of getting busy and a pain in your neck cos this might be the last student life we r goin through! The Coming Camp

Just to inform you guys that we will have another language camp this semester. the special thing about this language camp is that we will facilitate the final year UTM students. because of that, all facilitators will undergo a training session before going to the camp. we will have a lot of LDKs this time and not much games. the language camp will be on the 9th january 2004. there will be 20 facilitators altogether. so, lets join forces.

hi ya people!!It's me again ;only this time around I'm blogging from my home in Sarawak!!!he..he..It's great to be back in my hometown after a year in Skudai..Boy..there are rapid changes in my small town here in Sri Aman.There are more tall buildings,fastfood chains(my indulgence),shopping malls and nice waterfront for people to view some crocodiles..he.he...I almost couldn't believe it..Only one thing I regret.There is no more small forest in front of my house...It has been cleared by the local municipal for housing estate....haiya...I feel hot all the time because there is no more bamboo trees to cover my room's balcony...keji sungguh!!!anyway, I hope everyone is happy and enjoying their fasting month especially to my Muslim friends...cherish this moment when you are able to fast with your family and friends.I also managed to go to the local PaRam(Pasar Ramaddan) and hunt for ikan terubuk masin....he..he...anyway, I have a good news and a bad news for everyone.It's regarding me:of course.I will only be back to UTM after raya and the bad news is I cannot "kacau" everyone during the fasting period lah.....:P Anyway, I've just booked my christmas flight online...memang betul cakap Kenneth..~"It's so easy..it's all right"...~singing the song~anyway....I hope everyone is happy till the OTAI level and as for me..I am truly blessed with home cooked dishes and ample afternoon naps!!!!I think I might gain some weight...tidak!!!!!!or else..I'll become Kenneth's Evil Twin..he..he(jangan mare pakcik)he..he...oklah...that's all for now.Do feel free to blog and call me at home.I am 24 hours ready and on-call.he..he.last but not least.

Hi all!!!! getting overwhelmed with your holiday, until no room to breathe? for me, i really need a clue or i ll lose my nerves. too free to just sit down and doing nothing. ( hahaha! who wants to tell the truth!).

Hi ya people!!It's me again!!!well, I just want to tell everyone that I am going back to Kuching tomorrow night.I'll be taking the last flight from Senai around 9.00pm...boy, I am very happy.My tuition classes end a week earlier..So, last night;as soon as my boss told me that the class yesterday will be the last class for this year.I screamed with joy..well, not in front of her..but later when I went back to Melana.I sang all the way back..ermm..what was the song again..yeah!!Money,Money,Money by ABBA...I think because I realized that I run short of money after I counted my flight ticket..:P..well, anyway, I immeadiately called the MAS operator and told her that I want to change my flight from the original 30 october to 24..he..he...and I did not tell Syaharil until just now when we 're on our way to get dinner...He looked sad because I have to leave all alone in Melana.......so, I "racun" him to go back to Sabah...well, I think the evil plan is working..he..he..anyway, that's my story for today..So, I'll not linger in the cyber space for two weeks I guess.man...I really need a break......Maybe go to the beach at Santubong and swimming with the baboons the beach nearby..he..he..see ya..soonn....oh..by the way, I wish all the best for the up coming result....hope to see smiling faces when I'm back..he..he.

Hello pinkishers!!!!he..he...wow!Most of our grades are out and this has drive me crazy.Thanks Mr. G for publishing it in blogspot and thank you for giving me a A for language games...I am so kiasu in this aspect.Not to mention just how "kecoh" I can be with Dihah and Syaharil discussing about marks..Well people, this is the normal things we do when we are still a student.I enjoyed it very much and kept doing it every semester.Some people say it is useless and so-not-cool to compare marks with friends.It is not a bad habit or "makcik" thingy rather a routine.You should try it and be "kecoh" lah!Because we will not do it again after next semester...:( It will remain as a sweet memory to us...just how amazing to see how a person can turn into a "makcik" or rather...a "makcik kiah" in training.Well, it is one of the things we do when we gossip..Well, I believe everyone loves to gossip.It is our nature and I think it very interesting that we have this culture.But then again, don't over do it.Anyway, the point I'm saying this is to recall everyone just how important for us to keep in touch with various methods...some prefer to hold a chat room for gossip, some have newsletter to tell about their progress with their family and how many babies they manage to produce within three years..well, whatever it is..I hope everyone will feel free to share their news and thoughts...he..he..Currently, I am still busy with the tuition. wow..I felt very sorry for Norzie..She was caught up in the "war". I think it is somehow true but then again we must be wise and flexible to our environment(whatever it means). We have to learn how to adapt and never let others pull us down while at the same time we must not threaten others. Anyway, too bad you were not in the second camp.It is definately havoc and fun!ala-ala some of us mandi laut gitu!Did some back flips ..he..he...it was fun..all the jellyfish swam away from us because we are too loud!! HOT!!HAVE TO READ THIS!!

Wow! I guess this is my second time I write something in this column. Not like you guys, especially Kenneth, Damien, Syahrul and the others that always write something in this weblog. Usually I am the reader and today I would like to show that I am a talented person especially in writing and commenting; hehehe. So, what I’m going to talk about is on our language camp that lasted several weeks ago. I guess it’s not too late to say something or else I’ll not get any marks for weblog entries!! So, let go straight to my point. I’m very happy to hear from one of my friends that she enjoyed during the 2nd language camp. But, what I would like to stress on is that their management was fair to everybody especially for introvert people LIKE ME. Opps, wait a minute…I’m not TOO introvert, but if somebody give me a task, then I will finish it because I know that it is my responsible that I have to carry on. Simply said, my weakness is I don’t know how to compete with the others in order to show off myself in front of the participants. So, if somebody feels not satisfied with my participation during the camp, actually I was even more than him. To tell you the truth, I really really want to go to the 2nd language camp just to improve myself and to show to somebody that I’m not a passive or UNMOTIVATED facilitator. Unfortunately, I have tones of works to catch up plus my PSM. Furthermore, I heard that they (2nd language camp) divided the task so that everybody will have a chance to come out in front of the
audience. Actually, somebody reminded me during the camp by saying that I have to go in front and say something. DUHHH, please la my friend…
I don’t want to be emotional so let just stop here. CHEER UP BABES!! All of you were very motivated and a good friend to me. THANKS FOR ALL OF YOUR cooperation with me..eventhough I’m not from your batch.

I would like to thanks all my friends especially the first Sekakap team. Thanks for your help and encouragement. Thanks to the lecturers too.
I had such memorable and unforgettable ELCs. The more we involved, the more we get. Both camps are different and both are the best and I believe the last camp is the best too. I really enjoyed both camps. One with plants, one with water. One with calm, one with 'shock'.
I am so lucky with two energetic groups in Kaizen and Sekakap and they were winner for drama competition too. There were also best actors from both of my groups. Go PEELOO and PEEZ. Go STARS and EXCELLENT!
I'm having a problem to keep in touch with the participants. It's my problem, where I have faced it since I went to other programme of foster parents too. I can't forget them, but I am so hard in visiting them. I hope this time around I have the chance to keep in touch with the participants since they are UTM students too.

what a great idea!

i'm totally agree with gina, as my housemates and i also had discussed about the same idea right after we finished our camp A. it will be better if we can make it true. as for my housemates and i, we would like to make it like a business. let say, when all of us the TESL students have graduated, we will be posted all around malaysia right? so, we, just come out with some idea like a summer camp during semester break. all of us will create the modules and then we will bring all of the modules and compile them together. then, we can use the modules for the camp. different schools will have different modules right? correct me if i'm wrong. so, from there we will have a TESL organisation which will conduct the summer camp for school students and perhaps for the university students. he he he...just a suggestion. interested, give me a call ;p who knows, may be one day this summer camp will be famous. what a dream i have!

yo ma friends! wassup! okay, since i,ve finished directed my camp, i did not post any of my comment about the camp in the gameplan. now, i have a little time to spend and i would like to accomplish my mission. let's the story begin....well, i'm absolutely totally extraordinarily happy with our camp A. i love you all for such a great cooperation and i give all of you the biggest and enormous applause you guys ever have before. you guys totally outstanding and all of us have been changing as the time goes by and the result is you guys have become better and better in facilitating the others. what a great job guys. i love and appreciate the team work that all of you have shown in the camp. thank you for your support and with that i managed to carry and perform my job as the director. you guys have lighten my burden for being such a great big team. i hope that we can work together again. adam, nice work! you've prooved to me that you can do the material work. you've organised it succesfully. and for the rest you guys totally awesome. NICE WORK TEAM A. LOVE Y'ALL.

My people skill is hanged on a thread! but, i will work it out because you are worth it! (fifth language camp entry)

This would be the fifth and the last posting to fulfill the course requirement. surely, i would end with a very nice and sweet message that every one will endear to.

So far, i have been to four language camps (nat a show off! cos some people will got more). going through all ups and downs in the camp, i think there has been a lot of changes in my personality. do you still remember that silent guy who used to hide himself in his own little world. not much than a green green grass easily blown by the wind! That was 2 years ago (start becoming livelier at third year) but know, i managed to grow out of the timid world of my own and appear to be a bit "big mouth" but that somehow rather depends on situation (don't believe me, try me, i am beautiful and bad :P) and i still consider myself as fragile cos my self-confidence is so unstable and fluctuate. I can go overboard sometimes, the other time, you may safely call me hopeless, because i admit it. Language camp becomes a paramount learning-centre for me.

I would say, i prefer more to Language camp in kaizen. where Kak jija and I were so succesful in giving a deep impact to our "children" :P. I think, a partner could be a crucial factor that affect my performance. I had a good time during the "ice breaking session" that happily telling you my progress during the first post mortem. I was so shocked that everybody expressed their unsatisfy feelings that time. well, it was so awesome ya'll. but i never know that a doom (this may be exaggerating) was waiting for me in the next camp. i was not in a good condition. Plus, a chronic cough was killing me. My self-esteem is at stake.

Being with you guys in the language camp is like a wonderful dream that i never wish to wake up (do i win the crown? this is a miss universe speech). All the memories we built are so much memorable and precious than a happily ever after fairy tale story. Want to ask you this? was that the language camp itself that made you so shining? or was it because the language camp and the one and only excellence organizer (this is a must) plus the beautiful people of our great fellow coursemates were there? what i believe in, the former sounds more to the answer. putting all of our brains together could cause a tornado of change. we are so good in this. we are complementing each other (can it be the other way round? like a silent destructor or something? :P). some of us are on their peak of their performance. people like me, there are a lot of things that i have to learn. the crucial one, my people skill. I know there will be twists and turns on the road ahead. but, believing in what i can do and what i can improve. it would be not much of a problem. with that, i will end by saying that all of you are a great people. Let us treasure all the memories in the language camp forever in our heart. i can't have enough for the language camp, actually, can we have another one?

p/s Mr. G. I am indebted with you a zillion thanx cos, you make me think a lot on what i am lacking in. Giving me lights to show me the way to the path of becoming a greater person. I give you a BiG-BiG smile.

Hi.The tide is high but I'm holding..I'm gonna be your #1..get the idea?It's actually a song by Atomic Kitten.It's catchy but I love the words in it.It is simple and so real to me...I would like to thank Mr. G for being very supportive and fun as well throughout the camp and class. It was one of the interesting classes for this TESL program. I was having fun during the camp and enjoyed myself very much during your class.I hope we can still work together and have fun in the future.I hope you will invite me for the up soming camps..if you are having one..don't forget me!Because I'll be around for one more year.I believe everyone in your class is having fun just like me.I just wished that we have Language Games II..he..he..I know it's impossible!From the way we blogging and discussing in the blogger..it is very nice and interesting.I hope everyone will still write to each other and keep in our minds that this thing somehow make us closer to each other..And especially yo Pinah..I am very sorry for not mentioning your name during the last postings..ok,here it goes.I would like to tahnk Pinah for being kind,loud(you get the idea) and supportive during the camp.It is nice to know you and working with you.Same goes to everyone...

ELC ~ Remains In My Heart

Assalamualaikum wbt

A few days ago, some of the participants who joined our ELC (sekakap and kaizen) sent me SMS, telling me how they missed the facis and the surroundings of English. It is quite hard for them to actually practice English in their life because most of their friends are still looks English in a negative perspective. Some of the participants are also looking forward to join such camp in the future. I think all the credits should be given to the facis, the lecturers (Mr G, Miss Fatimah n En Farouk) and the directors (Syarul, Nater n Adilla). Two thumbs up for you guys... Hmmm, that's all for now...

Funny but True!!!

As I go through my blogspot and read some of the messages!I was quite shock when most of the comments sent to me discussing mainly about myslef and how I treated others.And I would like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone for being very sweet and encouraging to me for the past four years.I was a loner back then in school, no one really wanted to know or get closer to me because I was so ugly*get the hint people?Well, now I am a swan prince!!!..err...not really!It's just that I have change on the way I mix and brought myself to strangers.And the last camp was one of the platform for me to fray my innate abilities and scrubbed all the superficial thoughts about me. I maybe lous sometime and may seem a bit bitchy and such an as****e but it is not really me.I am very considerate and helpful but I would never betray my friends just for the sake of success..I beileve we must be good in order to fulfill our goal as a human being.And the language camp had taught me to get closer to people through games and fun ways of learning..Ah..It is do rewarding..oppss..I sounded like a beauty queen.....

Phew!here I am again, and this time I will talk more what have I found in the language camp. I'd love to share it with everyone here!During the camp, I have discovered some nice things about myself..that would be the main point here.he.he..I cannot believe that I somehow manage to handle and control a bunch of "big" adults for three days and they are actually listening to what I said.Phew!Second thing, I cannot believe that the way I brought myself in front of these strabgers had gave some inspirations and admirations from my peers(coursemate).I guess it's because they had never see me exposing myself like I'm this Oprah Winfrey...he..he..and the third thing is..I just cannot believe it myself..someone told me that I'm cute..he..he...it's so unreal!!!Well, I think it's true!don't you think so guys?he..he..well, those are the three best things I learned about myself during the last camp.

well, i guess that i just want to thank everyone, i mean everyone who went for the language camp. you people have given me enough support throughout the camp. speaking about support, it seemed very true that without support, we would never go anywhere. for example, in a balcony , it needs support of 4 poles. without the 4 poles. ot would not be called a balcony. i guess it will be called a collappsed building. so, for all the support that had been showered upon was really fantastic and i am very thankful for that. we really helped each other a lot though the game or programme or activity was not ours to handle on the stage. basically, what has language camp done to me was to teach me a whole lot of a bunch things that i would not get even if i am going to read lot of books. it was seriously a very good experience for all of us. thanks.

rain rain go away

hi there!!
well, as we all know it rained really heavily at the last moment of the camp. that was seriously really bugging at that time. we could not transport our luggages properly and basically, most og us got wet. the best part was that most of us was wet and the air cond in the bus really made us feel like we were in the artic. cool! cold! haha. but it was fun tough. passing the axe brand oil around. some of the participants felt like throwing up. sharings were done in the bus.well, basically, the rain did not really disturd the whole lot of a fun. but then, too bad, we could not have a dip in the beautiful and always welcoming sea. in fact luckily some did manage to have a taste of the sea after the amazing race. wasn't that fun? anyway, the major point was that ,most of us did enjoy there and we also managed to learn some useful stuffs.

its about unity too

hey there people,
now, what is the main password here? i guess it all about the unity we have in here. still reemember the united colours of teslians? hihihi that was the theme for the tesl nite. well, basically, i believe without strong unity witin us, for sure the language would be under a situation of hay wire. truely because we respect each others views and ideas. we believe that if we could give and take, we will achieve the best as the outcome. well, we made it. i love lanuage camp because, i know that my friends are always there for me - while laughing or when i need their help. there i guess, i really appreciate the friendship within the teslians and i also believe that as long as the unity remains in us, we can always succeed in any language camp in future if anyone is organizing.

emmm...i agree with what shaharil and keneth said about being assertive. i never thought after the talent night i'm being mark as 'assertive'.hi,hi. sometime we can be assertive but sometime not.
this was my first time went to camp and became a faci. actually i quite worry if i can't conduct or help the participants to improve their english or make them feel fun and enjoy during the camp. but i was so glad that my group members enjoyed themselves during the camp and also two of my group members gave their's contact numbers to me. so i hope we can continue using english through sms with after the camp. i never thought that they are so eager to improve their english.
but the camp was really exciting with the environment, games, the participants, lecturers and facis. i ws glad that we were not having a postmortem in every night of the camp. i was a good thing to have a postmortem in the class and no people were pointing finger to each others.
ok guys...all of us had done a good job from the start (class,meeting,workshop and camp) and with the helped of the lecturer.waaa...i don't know what to type more about the camp. this night i'm quite blur maybe because of the effect of medecine that i just took.

Most of you tell about your group in Sekakap. Actually do you know that the "thai" thinging 'sekakap' originated from our group (reallllyyy). The idea comes from abng Shah. He is the one who start it. But my group is the one who popularized the thing. RIOT (relationship in our group) that is my group name. To tell you the truth, i am really amazed with the group. All of them participate very well including boys and girls. They can work very well with each other and some of the facis agreed that they are the coolest group in that language camp. I really enjoyed my time with them and do you know that one the group member (her name is ELLE) is very good in english. That is why she managed to get the best actress for the drama. We as a facis should realize that most of them have the potential but the surronding limit their use of Language. I believe that if UTM change the culture, it is not a big problem for the students to master the language. We asked the participant to speak in english for 3 days only and we can see the effect.Back to my group, most of them really enjoyed the camp and looking foward to join in another language camp. They said that our language camp is the best camp they ever attend. Until now, i am still connecting with them and i hoped all of you do the same thing. However i feel a bit dissapointed about religious thing. We as a facilitator should show a good example to the participant. We gave them order to follow certain thing like to be punctual all the time and pray together at the surau. We gave them order but however we ourselves can not follow the order. We should however be as perfect as possible. Never to show our weaknesess. Yes, i agry that our language camp is almost perfect, but one major thing that is forgoten by the facilatator that is about religious thing. Not all facis is like that. Only a few of them can not follow the instruction given. But this few person will reveal our weakness as a facis. Sometime i feel ashamed that when the participant asked "where is the rest of the facis, are they joining us for the prayer" then what should i say to them? If you are in my situation, what will you do? Yes, i admit that we are very tired, but so to the participant. If they can do it, so must we. I thinkl that is the only weaknesess that i can see through out the language camp. The rest flows very well. Congrate to all the facis especially my team (team b) for all the efford and good work until we managed to handle the camp very weel

Entry 5: Future games

Hello there, it’s me again. So how’s life? I bet you guys are enjoying your sweet but sour holidays…hehe…sweet as in getting a few days off the class and sour as I (or maybe you too!) have to push those grey cells and academic muscles to work extra harder to meet the dateline, or should I call it the deadline? Urrgh…enough about that, lets talk about something else okay? Yeah…future games of language games. Personally I hope that in the coming future better games will be featured by our junior, or by others who are interested to enhance the mastery of English language through games. Then, I hope that future games will be as enjoyable as the ones that we had during the camp. I bet the participants will enjoy the game more if they can improve their English and at the same time the game motivates them to continue learning English even after the camp. What’s next ah? mmm…I also wish that for future games, the person who creates the game actually put effort to make his or her game useful and know the beneficial effect the game has by heart.

Final Entry: Language Camp – My Personal View

Dear readers,

Hello again everyone! I hope you’re all doing fine. Well, since this would be my final formal writing in Gameplan, I would like to share my personal opinion about language camps which I have been involved in for the past three months. Frankly speaking, I’ve been through a lot of things related to language camps since then. It has also kindda affect the way I view life on the whole….at least to certain extent, yes! To summarize all things, I went to three language camps in three months. That’s quite a lot, isn’t it? Anyway, let me tell you guys something about each camp.

I begin this whole story with the first language camp that I’ve ever been to as a facilitator. It was the English Survival Camp or also known as ESURCA among the participants. It was organized by KTC and I was invited to join a group of 5 facilitators at the last minute. Of course I knew about the existence of language camp before, but I’ve never been tempted enough to join one. Anyway, to make the story short, I guess it was the need to get first-hand experience of going to language camp before I have to go to the real one for Language Games that made me went to the camp in Kluang. It was not really a camp though…I mean the situation and all. It was actually done in Aborigines Training Centre. Of course the name of the place sounded scary enough to me but when we went there it was a really nice and comfortable place. That was also my first time working with our seniors because at the time Shahrizam and Aishah also joined the program and Mr. Faruk also stayed with us there for the whole two days. With 49 participants and 6 facilitators, we had decided to assign one facilitator in one group. Although being the first timer and I had to manage one group all by myself sounded a little crazy to me, everything went absolutely right. After doing some reflection, I think I didn’t really realize that I was managing a group on my own at the time because all facilitators were being very nice, helpful and cooperative to me. They would help me with anything that I need them to. Thanks to them and Mr. Faruk, my first camp was not a nightmare.

Talking about the second camp in Kaizen, it was totally a new thing to me. The environment, participants and the people I worked with were different. However, I learned a lot in that camp and I’ve come to realize that … that might be the real language camp. Anyway, talking about participants, I still think that they are the best in terms of the positive effects that a language camp can have on the participants. That was my second camp.

My third camp was the one in Sekakap and I was in the second group to go. In my opinion, everything was going very smoothly except for the bus with broken air conditioner that we had to get on, on our way back. I think, it’s because we all have learned a lot from the camp in Kaizen and we were being very cautious in doing things so that we wouldn’t repeat the same mistakes.

Talking about the effects that language camps had on me, I’m going to start with it has actually increased my confidence to speak English and it has also some kind of pushed me to speak English more often. It’s because before we went to the camp we have to practise using the language more often so that we would be able to function well as a facilitator during the camp. That’s when I realized that I’ve speaking English more nowadays. Secondly, it made me know the people around me better and some how make me feel closer to them. If before the camps, I didn’t really think that I need to know the seniors, after the camps I’ve saying hi and even making small talks more often with at least some of them (those who went to the camps of course). So, it has somehow improved my interpersonal skill a little bit…at least to certain extent…yes, absolutely! And I’ve also feel the same way about several of my course mates. That’s very positive, right? Well, another thing, the camps also made me know more people in UTM now. I mean, it has been very easy to be stopped by and said hello by the participants who know me nowadays. I seem to be seeing many familiar faces these days especially when I’m in the public places such as library, SUB, banks or other places like that. So…I guess more language camps means more friends.

Before I sign out, I would like to say that Language Games is definitely one of the subjects that seem very realistic to me. I mean we use what we learn from the classes in very real situations and while doing that, it actually helps us to be a better teacher, insyaallah…Lastly, again, thanks a lot to MR. G and all my beloved course mates for making that all happened. If there’s any participant reading this, I hope you guys will keep learning English and have fun while doing it. The following is a translated excerpt the National Day speech delivered by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday night Aug 30, 2003. Maybe you may use it in your PSM later.

We can still increase wages without in-creasing costs if our output and productivity can be increased via enhanced efforts and skills, or via better manufacturing methods like automation and the use of IT. Workers must be willing to be retrained so that they are more skilled and can use more sophisticated equipment that can facilitate increased output.

In this regard, the mastery of the English language is very important. This does not mean we want to push our own language, the national language, aside. Our language cannot be promoted if we remain an undeveloped race. Only races which are developed can promote and spread their language.

In early times, the Arabs were a strong, developed race knowledgeable in mathematics, astronomy, science, sailing and others besides religion. Those who want to have the knowledge pioneered by the Arabs must learn Arabic. But today, the language of knowledge is English. If we do not want to be an undeveloped race, we have to learn and be adept in the English language.

Similarly, if we want to enhance our output so that wages will increase, every worker must master the English language, if not fully, then enough to understand the methods of work and instructions in the language. To learn other languages we must also first master English because there are no books and courses on other languages in our own language.

The strategy and approach taken to develop our country and improve the standard of living of Malaysians is carried out with integrity and by formulating our own approach after studying in detail the ways and means of others."

Language Camp

Hai everyone. As everyone know that our language camp have been a very suceesful camp. I want to thank to all my coursemate especially my team (kenneth, ila, diyah, farrah, dihah, mien, sham, elle, affa, abg shah, kak linda,penah, izati, dihah, megat, caroline, gina) for such a good co-operation. To ila, you have done a great job as a director.
I had learned a lot of thing in the camp. The important thing is team work and good plan. Actually, i had been to language camp before. But, this time it is different. Before this i have to handle children but this time young adults. It' really different. For me, i think i enjoy the camp in Sekakap cause i think there are more matured and easy to control them. I also want to express my special appreaciation to Abg Shah. He has help me alot in hanlding my group (RIOT stand for relationship in our team). Besides, i want to thank all my lectures especially En Ghazali for giving me such opportunities to join in the camp.
However, there is a bit problem during the preparation before going to the camp.Some of us did not participate very well in preparing the things before going to the camp. However, i want to congrate Ila and Megat in handling this situation. Megat has done a great job as a secreatary. Hopefully, he will keep up the good work. Basically, i really enjoyed my time as a facilatator for the language camp.

this is ugly! i am in this CC with a deafining PC game being played all around me. a little bit gloomy and seriously, the chair is too large for my size. do i look like a nerd, with this file and KFC's table mats on my lap? to make matter worst, some of the buttons on the keyboard have faded, gosh, i have to double-force on hitting the space bar. people! people! as soon as i step out from the door, that's it! i'll secure an absolute freedom from this far from peace CC.

straight to the point, i'd like to say something on build-the-tower game. undeniably, after some modification, the game has become our creme-de-la-creme ( i like to experiment with words) game for all camps. it was good, really, thanx to Megat the founder, credits to MR. G who had given his creative touch to the game and not forgotten Daniel and -who in charge for camp B? - who made the game so succesful. However, i sense a defect in the game that, because of we have several people for the Crippled-one (the average and quiet participants), not all of them benefited to speak out to give the instruction. this is what i saw in my group, there were 4 crippled people. 2 out of 4 turned to be so active in giving the instruction and the other 2 were alienated on the side and just looking at their friends. They did received the information from the muted but they didnt know how to transmit it to the builder. perhaps, they didnt know how to start. within that confusion, apparently, the other two had blinded them with their flash-progress instruction. what we should do is, we identify parts of the tower properly and assign it to each of the contractor. whether they like or not, they have to practice the language. bekos wai? they need to have the tower, dude.....it's a race against time !!!!!!

i did remind the cast aways to say something to the builders. what they gave on my face? a chronic grinning on the forehead and a running around with a constant-smiling give away. oh dear, that was somewhat funny but i was deeply touched in my heart too. plus, DR. Annie was there. a bit of not-spontaneous act, i did. that's harmless. don't worry. i still, firmly hold my respnsibility to my participants. that's all. i will come back for a final posting!!!!! see ya.

Well i agree wif u in the sense is that yes at times i do think university students lack that thing called wisdom... they have all d knowledge in their heads but failed to apply it to their daily lives... u must remember is that m'sia 's education is based on exams and paperwork and not on daily or omplementation of that knoledge. well it takes lots of experiences and wisdom to reach a stage of that life.. where u can think rationally and optimistically. i thank God that i had a very pracmatic parents that saw that my talents are at my hand as my head too. i thank that both of them taught me to use my head and hands 2 do the work... and not just wasting my slava talking. talking does not do the job but get yourself inolve in the matter at hand is the essential part of it. i mean u must get the hands on experience in order to do things. besides that one must also use their knowledge and apply it in their lives. hey i didn't get to know all d technical part of the computer until my dad had me hands on the pc n start fixing it.. i didn't just get all d knowledge of fixing things from kitchen appliences to plumming and carpentry just for nothing and returned it to my techers... well use it to fix the things at home or where u stay.... same goes to cooking... experienment wit things u can get your hands on... watch cooking show... i don;t use the cook book to learn how to cook... i see things n change it to suit d environment... hey all this i learn it from watching people and listening to what they say....

Hey i'm not trying to brag here but it is the truth on how i learn things..... it is a good thing to watch and listen... that i guess is why God made us with ears, eyes, nose, mouth and hands to do all the things so that we can survive in this world.. knowledge comes with wisdom to use it! u can see all this in proverbs! i guess university students must Grow up and start learning to love wisdom. with all the knowledge stored up in your head and u don't use it is a waste of that God given brain of yours. this i hope would be a help to those future leaders of the camps or any camps. well the selection of a camp leaders not nessecary means all the dressing or certificates but on the quality of that person's leadership. can that person do the things that say... hey promising things does not ensure the follower's future... no one will follow a leader that only blows the wind but doen't deliver... heck i know all things coz this all has happened in history... i hope we would be able to futher improve ourselves to be able to be people who delivers and not just give empty promises.

5 Post (5. Future Camps)

Maybe in the future we can make a 2 way camp. For example conducting an english camp at pulau tioman. Most of the children over there, their parents has a resort and they send their children at a nearby school. So we conduct a camp and at the same time we can have a vacation. I think most of us would love that. But we need to negotiate with them and another one would a language camp at the japanese school in pasir gudang. The scenario would be more difficult and more challenging. We get to exchange the culture knowledge and have fun at the same time. What do you think? This would be my idea for the future camps and there are more in my head. Actually we can make a business out of this camp. I suggested this idea to Mr. Ghazali. Lets say in the future someone has posted to sabah for example, u tell the teacher at the school that you want to make a language camp. You contact your classmates and for those who are free can go as a volunteering basis or make a formal negotiation. At first it is hard but when you get the pace, you'll be laughing like a millionaire.

hmm great comments for far...i always knew Gina had the nic for giving great ideas! I feel that our lecturers could actually "keep" a few of those with talents here in UTM even after graduation..."disguised" as Masters Students and by day...these candidates will coordinate the language camps for the whole semester like up to eight every sem...what they could do is to also open up say 30% of facilitators consisting of students from other courses but with an excellent command of the laguage! those selected few could train them with the needed skills and the rules of the games! this could greatly minimize the workload of the lecturers but there is one down side to this plan...the facis might not work as well together! hmm any suggestions as how we could improve on our plans...syaharil...it was sweet of you to say that..thank you...and its Camp Commander...bye and take care!

The most favourite game

Of all the games that the participants played in the camp, which was their most favourite game? For my group (A-ion group), my members liked the Alphabet game and the Snap the most. For the Alphabet game, they said they can learn what words fall under what categories (whether the words are in the categories of country, adjectives, fruits and vegetables) . Besides, they were also challenged to seach their memories for words that start with a particular alphabet. The Snap game was interesting as it got everyone excited and be ready to shout 'snap' at the right time. I wonder whether or not in the evaluation form, participants were asked to rank the games form the most favourite to the least favourite. In this way, we can have ideas of which game should we keep and which should be replaced by other game.

The best actor

I wonder how many of you know Vince. He was one of the members in my group and he was the winner of the best actor award in the camp. I remembered the first day during the introduction of facis and members slot, he was puzzled why he was asked to come to the camp. He felt that his English was not that bad to have to come for such a 'remedial' camp. In other words, he saw no reason he should be there except that he was forced to. However, on the last day of the camp, his thought of the whole camp changed. He claimed he had benefited a lot from the camp and that he enjoyed the activities in the camp. I think this is the biggest satisfaction that all the facis have for their hard work to make the camp a successful one. We have somehow changed the perspective of participants towards the camp and also towards English. This feeling of satisfaction will remain in my memory forever.

Gina, i am actually, sort of, perhaps agree with you with that strategy difference and i know where is this marketing strategy derived from. Is Daniel decided yet? hehe !
yup, that is a very good idea. But even though the participants thought they were being forced to go, guess what? they were voluntarily changed their mind as soon as we went on stage and spurring out our "unique attitude". they were so overwhelmed that they have to go with "le flow" of total enjoyment that imbued with vast educational values, we proposed. At this stage, I think the issuance of the letter wil not be an issue. Anyway, your marketing startegy will two-fold the number of the participants, in this respect, i should honour your brilliant idea.

well, that was only my respond for gina's posting. For this posting, i would like to talk bout two major things, firstly something on camp commandant (how 2 spell?) and secondly, how to get closer to the participants. This is not a very fancy topic to talk about, but i'd like to say it's better to have a camp commandant, somebody from our circle. if he/she totally a new figure then i afraid to say, there wil be a big chances for a miscommunication to occur. everybody has a different values, views, and priorities. A minute carelessness will lead to a serious miscommunication. i've been there! so, i am just giving my humble opinion based on what i have experienced.

secondly, how is it to make every facy recognized by all the participants rather than just restricted within their own small, secluded group only? Yeah, just try to avoid a misconception that after this, nobody would dare to say that somebody is being so obsessed with their participants in the particular group o-n-l-y (ouch!). furthermore, dont you think it is a bit of a comedown when you only have a fond memory of 11 people in your group only. what happen to the "shout" slot actually? it was a bit chaos for the team-building session last time (sekakap A). we kept on changing the group members. after trying to be a bit systhematic for the group forming, in the end, we resorted to the conventional of counting 1-2-3. well, at least we made our life easier, didnt we?

mon: 1630: ;leadership matters...

hi there people! happy Merdeka Day! yahoo... so, regarding the language camp, wasn't that a 'merdeka' too for all of us? we enjoyed what ever we did there: the activities, beach and the food, jellyfish and blah blah blah. we had the whole lot of a time to relax and stay away from the assignments. that was good. however, speaking about the leader out there, i mean the language camp leaders, they did a great job actually. they were very attentive all day though they did not have enough sleep. bravo and congrats for the good job. you earned your respect well and did your job greatly. thank to ila who know what to do and when to do. i hope that i was a good leader in the group too. i was with ken directing the 'ale ale' group. it was great actually. anyway, i bet we all had a good time and learnt more about what leadership is all about.

Good Idea Gina!

As I read through Gina's postings, I am quite impress with her wonderful idea.We can create bigger impact to undergrads in UTM.That is true,but...yes there is a but my dear Gina....I can say that we are still new to this kind of camp.We need supports and encouragements from the people like what we had(HEP,UNIPEN).I think we need to work harder and we might burn our asses(opps..did i wrote that) to get approval,sponsorships and management.Yes, we can manage the program but I think it is best to work the whole thing together.Our obligations were reduced by the UNIPEN and our beloved lecturers; they helped us to deal with people from the "higher place"(is that phrase correct?).But, I really like Gina's idea and I am 100% agree with her. We need to reach out to more people and make it as a fun camp and not a camp where the participants are oblige to attend.Anyway, all I would like to say is that the camp has helped us to learn how to manage and organise big stuff..(apart from TESL Night)
p/s:hey...how about our TESL Night this year?don't have meh?too bad...

The change of strategy

I just wanna propose a change of strategy in organizing language camp in the future. Many of the participants that came for the language camp never regretted for coming to the camp. Many of them liked the camp and enjoyed the activities in the camp. I was just wondering instead of forcing the people to come to the camp (by sending them letter making it compulsory for them to come), why don't in the future we make the camp a non-compulsory one. We can advertise the camp around campus and open to all utm students to join. We want the people to come with a willing heart, with the desire to learn English. We don't want them to feel compelled to come for the camp. In this way, we will have participants who really want to learn the language right from the first day of the camp and thus we may yield better results. Furthermore, by doing marketing drive to promote language camp in campus, we will be able to establish the reputation of language camp and bring the camp to a professional level.

The difference that makes a difference

I can't help but amazed at our classmates' talents and abilitites demonstrated during the language camp. Our classmates are really a bunch of unique people. And it is the difference in us that makes a difference in the language camp. Believe me, many participants felt that the camp was not like any other ordinary camp, it was different, in fact very different. The difference was not only in terms of the content, but also the way the facis led the whole camp. We have portrayed a very confident and progressive image in the camp. Every faci is outstanding and influential. The participants looked up to us not only because we can speak the language better than them, but also because of our character and attitude. So, Fcis, give yourself a pat on the shoulder! Continue to be an influential person to people around u!!!

The influence of the camp

It was indeed a great experience in the language camp. When we look at the impact we had made on the participants, we should really be proud of ourselves. Some of us bumped into the participants in campus after the camp, we were glad to see they were still 'on fire' to use English in their conversation with friends. Some of them their spirit was still 'lifted high having the desire to learn English. I personnal bumped into one of my group members and she told me she was very motivated to learn English and she tried to use the language whenever there was an opportunity. I believe none of use ever thuoght that the camp would have such a big influence on the lives of the participants, all we know is that we wanted to give our best to this camp, and the results.... are unbelieavable great.

Sekakap!!!(do the thai thingy..)

Hi ya everyone!I can't wait to pour out everything about the camp in Sekakap last week!!It was superb!I would say it was one of the best camp I have been to.Okay, where should I start..he..he..To begin with;there were so many hilarious and so unbelieveable incidents that happen.And all the incidents were sure-real man!! Well, at first I thought the camp would be gloomy and dark as the previous campers managed to convince us with rare incident and paranorm phenomenons..But, as soon as the bus stop(I was fast asleep with Dinie in the bus);it was sunny and so peaceful.And...the rooms was so-next-door..he..he..the girls even complained that they heard some of the boys were snoring all night..he..he..(ACTUALLY GIRLS,all of us snore!!)The program went smoothly and I as the person who in charge of briefing manage to scare the kids about the toilet visit thingy and the jelly fish and wild boars.Wicked!!Anyway, we (the facis) were so mad and the kids love it!!!I was enjoying myself and have the opportunity to work with everyone and those who were so long ago away from me..I really missed the camp and the way we worked things out!It was as if when we were in our first year...we start all over again and be playful with each other.Especially the boys...we have been very "far away" from each other these three years, but the camp has brought us closer like when we were still 1SPL:( I was however, so grateful to go to the last camp and manage to drag a few victims to swim a long with me..including our beloved MR. G.It was so funny because I was the one who warned everybody to stay away from the beach during the first day when I did the the briefing.But, deep in my soul;I was screaming like mad the moment I step down from the bus..It was so serene and cool.So, there we were(me,Affa,Dinie,Syah,Syam) floating around and did some crazy backflips!!It was mad and Mr. G was so attracted with the fun that he somehow forgot that he was actually swimming along with us...I was the culprit behind this and I love it!!!he..he..All the participants are great and the small amount of them made the camp easier to handle.They are all big kids and we do not have to worry about them.All the activities were fun. The best one would be "spot and bomb"..the participants took the chance to scream madly like us.The sand castle was good too,I was one of the judges.It was cool.I felt great..with the ocean breeze and endless photo poses with Farrah my partner..she was as mad as me!!!Illa was so cool and maintained her calmness throughout the camp.Affa, Elle, Sue and Dinie was my favourite bunch to have meal with!They are so chatty and the meal time would be a period for us to gossip.Dihah,Gina,Zati, Eddy,Megat and Izati were so cool and I even saw them on a few occasions comforting and motivating the participants.Way the go guys!Kenneth was so funny with his hat,Uppu Tangeche(caroline) was having fun with her "ale-ale" team..he..he..and Syam was sick because I chaste a curse on him..not!!!He did not sleep the night before we depart to the camp, that is why he is sick.I wonder what he had been up to?Syah and Linda were also great and I had a brief "so-called affair" with Linda..thanx to Affa!!And the most unbelieveable thing when Affa did some sound effect from a distance away.some participants were amazed by his innate ability..and not to mentioned me and Farrah..Farrah laughed until she almost fell from her chair that night..sorry Affa..I told Farrah about it, I can't resist.It was so dead funny.But, I really like you around the camp.You manage to give me smiles and laughters!!!So, I guess the camp may be or may be not if not any better than the prebious camps. But all I can say is, do the best you can and never...do not just hope things will be good but you yourself have to cut the strings and have fun as you work.Don't blame it to the beavers..But, I am proud to say that all the facis in the last camp did not dissappoint themselves as well as others, each one of us have the opportunity to stand in front and still manage to look great at the same time.But, I think the best voice over would be Izati.She sounded great and cool as she talks,don't you think that way guys!Anyway, we were so sad when time flies and it was time to go home..and the worst thing is.. the bus for facis do not have air condition.So, all of them (facis) scrambled to the two buses and leave 7 of us behind with the last bus(me,kent,gina,dihah,megat,pinah and zati were in that bus..thank God the rain stopped and we can open the emergency windows on top of the bus...Everyone was fast asleep throughout the journey.Last but not least, I say the camp has helped us to reflect our true abilities..We learn to see, listen,watch and get along with others as we helped others...I believe we can be the best English teachers around!!!!ok,chow da mow!!!

more tragic than a titanic, older than dinasours and more complicate than a pokemon!!! (lang camp entry, for sure)

i have made a comeback! first of all, i wanna give all the love in the world to Kenneth for his kind words to me. dude, now, i feel much much better. if one day, i made it to be the most kind-hearted person in the world, then the first lesson i learnt was coming from you! :P. i guess, my last posting was so full with emotions. enough for that heart breaking heart talk! for this time, i would like to talk about positive side of things that i have done in the Sekakap Camp A. I was in-charged of becoming MC for the presentation slot. well, as a whole, it was a smooth flow of an event. it is safe to say that i have done my job well even though i was dead-nervous at the fisrt place due to some problems that almost let me down. DId i appear spontanoues on the stage guys? well, thanx for all the hidden nervous symptoms and a script that i never let go in my hand. he he he! just trying my best to imitate RYAN SEA CREST! :P. guys, i am telling u, i have this great passion on being on stage, a little bit of an exhibitionist i am, my cup of tea too. so, that's all about it. i was the MC yeaaaaa!!!!!

ouh yeah, almost forgot, this is the most crucial detail to be enclosed here, i was performing during the talent night! an unchained melody was on air! want to get a big shout....yeaaahhh!. i hope i didnt make a fool out of myself, or what you call it "syok sendiri". so how many stars you would like to give me?
i ever thought of it that if i would want to venture in this teaching profession, i would go along the music line, a music teacher!!!!!!!plus an English teacher of course. but, it sort of a dream that will never be realized. is it 100 words already? or it should be 50, isnt? nobody like to hear people so indulgingly talking about himself. well as for all of you guys, i know we are all fun-loving people. so much of a hillarious, over-acting (Ups!), loud, hot, spontaneous, going physical, out-of-the-ordinary attitude, sweet and big mouth (mebbe some of the characteristics dont apply) when we are all getting together and u know what? we could just bringing down the house. we are a great group of people. who could disagree with we on this? we are brilliant, fabulos (not fabuloso, the detergent) and last but not least, charming. we are so complicate than a pokemon. The camp was so memorable to me. The day i realize the true capability of me. dont dare to say that i dont want to go to the camp anymore. sign me up for the first person!!!! i just looove all of u guys.

NATIONAL DAY+LANGUAGE GAMES IN THE CLASSROOM...

finally we come to the 2nd last class for our beloved subject-language games in the classroom ( i somehow can't recall the code!) we'll only have one last class during the last study week...personally... i really enjoy taking this subject with all of u guys...what actually that i want to say here? (diyah is wondering! he..he..)

seems like everybody been talking/discussing about the post mortem, so i think enough for me to write about the camps post mortem, right? we are fortunate enough for having opportunities to develop our own abilities b4 we going out as a teacher...yeah, we have 2 times for practical session, but in my opinion that still not enough..we need to expose ourselves to the various environment of language learning...for the facis that have gone through a lot of LC..we can feel the difference, i mean when we facilitate school children, it is different compared when u facilitate those people in their first year- just imagine they are all about our age..

being a faci for school children, physically you really exhausted...u need to conduct the kids for almost every single things+time..u need to create their cheers..performances..so on and so forth..

but as for u students..let me recall my first expereince handling this U students..it started when JKM KTC invited some of us to be the facis for their English Survival Camp..to tell the truth i really scared and i feel like i was not prepared enough to be their faci! just imagine i brought along my thick-mcmillan dictionary along with me at that time just to be prepared and i can be their "reliable source" (in my opinion)..thanks god, that the camp has really made a good impression for me of handling U students and at other side it open my small eyes to the bigger view..i mean, they are different from these school children..they can cope with the things that we taught in just a short time..that's what i love about handling U students ( but still, it not happens to all of the partcipants!)


and as 4 my situation, i considered myself to be lucky because i have the chance to be with these two different groups..thanks a lot to our lecturers, seniors and most important to all of u guys..without your support i don't think that i manage to conduct the "Simon Says" session+Sand Castle..i am too afraid to talk in front of the crowd..i'm shaking at that time if some of u realize.

just wanna ask u guys 1 question : don't we have any final year programme for our beloved course?

Sun: 1525: it was fun

hi there people! basically i think i want to share something with all you people. it's about the dedication towards the camp. i believe that each and everyone of us did enjoy the camp very much yp to the maximum. the most importantly was the dedication that we all poured into the camp. i personally believe that without the dedication, the camp will not be a successful one. even if it wwas to be a successful one without dedication, the whole camp would be an enjoyable one. therefore, i have seen all the hard work into a whole enjoyable and exciting camp. i believe that to be successful eachers, we need to be dedicated too. all the best in your future undertakings, guys!!

Sat: 2355: the camp was cool

hi there people. finally i think i have some space to write something about our most experiencial camp. the camp was very, very cool. i seriously learny a lot from the camp. for, example, i really agree now with the proverb that sounds something like 'you will know a person better while play rather than a year's conversation.' basically, in my humble opinion, i think co-operation is main key point here. without co-operation, nothing can ever be achieved. i believe that everyone who have gone for the camp do agree with me especially at this major point. thanks to everyone especially to those who actively engaged in the last camp. it was all fun, fun and fun. bravo!!

Wow!

I didn't know you felt that way syaharil! I am really sorry! I think you were great at Kaizen and too bad i did not have the honour to work with you at sekakap...but let me say something if i may...you are a great person!!! you are! and i am not saying it because i felt sorry about what happened to you...as a friend i honestly felt that you had overcame many obstacles and that you are more mature than most people i know...you never stike me as childish...you have the Charisma and the charm to ease your way through many thigs...dont let setback like these to ruin you hope and visison and most of all your pride...hold it up high and be proud of who you are...coz brother, if they got problem with you...they can kiss your attitude goodbye! Actually i like the assertiveness "thingy"...to be politically correct...being in command without imposing and a pain in the "you-know-where!"...that is how i see it...hehehehe...let you out on a secret...you cant be a good teacher without "assertiveness"...the students are gonna walk all over you!

Another day in paradise!

well! that sounds appealing, isn't it? well, an entry about the language camp? erm.....here goes. i would like to talk about the last class on what are the qualities that facie should possess? before that, thank you very much for putting my suggestion to be among the unpopular trait! Actually, what i mean by being assertive is not the one like stern, strict, hot-tempered, fuming mad or something. In bahasa we call it "berpendirian teguh". you are holding on firmly on what you think is true. You being assertive until nobody can shake you. i say assertive because that was what happened to me in the Sekakap camp A. because of a lot of uncertainties i was trapped in an insecure condition that i hardly make an appropriate decision that ended up showing my ineffciency and what i call it as poor,pity and sooo...unprofessional! I was not better but a weak and vulnerable than a weak and vulnerable jelly fish stranded that you can find on the sea-shore. I was in-charge of the Sembahyang and imam for the camp which i assertively say i was succesfully proved that i failed to fulfill my obligation. :P. You see i was not the leader of the prayer and it would be your wonderful dream to see the participants pray together in the mosque. Don't you think there's something wrong there. well you dont have to look very far. it's me i was in the limelight!!!!!

i was trying to get an attention like a small kid to get a chance to voice my position during the camp, during the post-mortem and during the last class. but you see, the constant failure hit me like the raging waves on the sekakap beach. The positive side of me had been striked by the thunder to death! To tell you the truth, going to the camp had plunged me to the sea of my weaknesses, i was nearly drown. but thank god, my supportive friend were there, i could always reach them for a lifesaver! (since i was deeply trenched in this sad moment, i have created a story for this, i'll post it later! :P). well. i have to thank god for it, at least, now i can confidently tell what i am good at, when i will become weak and vulnerable than a weak and a vulnerbale jellyfish you can find on the sea-shore (sorry, mr. jellyfish-this is just an analogy). Assertive is the word here, being assertive means having a confidence and faith to stand on what you believe is good and true for you. My story about going to the language camp is not lcompletely ike a fairy tale but it is still sort of ending in quite happy condition. but that's a whole different story. i'll post it later. mmmmuuuaaaahhhhhh!

5 Post (4. Post Mortem)

All the post mortem has been done. I think if we have future camps we can make it more better than the previous one. Everyone spoke about the positive and negatives things that we've made. One thing for sure is that we still have the traditional culture attitude where if we don't like the persons attitude we just keep it in our heart and then we start to talk behind the person's back. Every post mortem during or after the camp was nice. We gathered around and talked about how can we improve the camp for the next day or for the future camp. We can see that there is an improvement for each camp. Good job everyone! and thanks for the feedbacks from the HEP, UNIPEN, Mr. Ghazali, Cik Fatimah, Mr. Faruk and Dr. Norazman. Thanks a lot to you guys too! :)

Kem Kaizen & Sekakap, which one is better?

Good day to all of the readers...

I just want to ask for your opinions on the camp that we organized in Kaizen and Sekakap... Which one do you think better? As for me, I think that the participants of Kaizen are more energetic and eager to participate in all the activities. However, Sekakap is a nice place ~ the foods, the air-cond rooms and the beach... If not because of the jellyfish, I will 'wible-wable' in the sea and ignore the participants... hehehehehe... I am truly blessed because I was given a chance to actually join Language Camps. Before this, I thought that there's nothing interesting on joining such camp. However, through the experiences that I had gained, it's a satisfaction actually to see the participants are brave enough to speak in English... What do you guys feel?

Heee! Hi! PSM is due 2nd of Sept, so how? Ok? As for me i'm still hanging on thanks to Pn Norzarina who has been really supportive and patient, so i hope i don't disappoint her! Regarding the post-mortem the other day...i must say i was very satisfied! There was no pointing of fingers and the discussion flowed openly and positively...i think most of us would agree that as compared to Kaizen, we were not that stressed out and did our job in a very flexiable manner while at Sekakap...at Kaizen we we expected to conform to certain rules and criticism and being brought into late at night we were very tired...im not saying its bad but it could have been done in a better way like how we did in class as oppose to poniting fingers to particular faci...lastly i would like to say, should we like to make comments on others and troubled ourselves with other peoples' resposiblities maybe we should look at ourselves first...thats is by far the best lesson i had learned..."others may reflect us just as we reflect others'...get it? and lastly..."respect earned is sweeter than respect demanded!"...hehehe! Cheers! and hip hip hoooray!!!!!!

Sekakap In Memories...

Assalamualaikum and a very good day to all of you...

First of all, congratulations to all the facis for Camp A and Camp B. You guys had gone a good job in motivating the students. Let us focus on the positive side of the camp, not only the negative ones... OK? Actually, I'm crying right now, alone, in front of Kenneth's computer... Suddenly, my mind recalled on the day we had our Talent Night. We were actually having a great time together with the participants ~ singing with them...

I think that Language Camp has actually make us closer together. We laugh at each others' face, share problems and managed to overcome the problems together... I'll cherish the memories...

4th Posting - Splendid Camp!!!

Hello everyone! Hopefully you're good 'ya. For this time, I would like to talk about the last camp that I went to. Last camp for this semester, I guess... English Language Camp in Sekakap, Mersing. To all facilitators and participants who were there from 22 August 2003 till 24 August 2003, thank you very much for the unforgettable memories and to all my fellow faciliators, I believe we have done a good job, guys. To the director, Miss Nor Adila thanks a lot for the patience of putting up with us. I believe you did a wonderful job as the director. You were a good one too and it has been my pleasure working with you.

To start with, we arrived at Sekakap in the afternoon and the registration in the evening went on smoothly. However, we had only about 70 participants all together. During the night, we had a briefing session by Damien who was doing a very good job for as a first-time facilitator. After that, we had the ice-breaking session whereby we played a simple but enjoyable game called Merry Go Round or some of us called it Merry Go Brown. During that first night, 8 more participants arrived at the camp. After that, participants were asked to come out with their own group cheer and they also presented the cheer. After going through the night, I have come to one conclusion about the participants, they were quite good with the language.

On the next day, I was incharged of conducting the activity for the morning where we played three games, Add One More, Snap and Alphabet Game. As for my group, Elle and I managed to play all games with the participants. After that, we did the action plan and in the afternoon, we played another three games, Charade, Win, Lose or Draw and Bingo. The participants in my group, HAVOC gave good responds and comments about all the games that we had played. During the evening, it was raining heavily. However, we managed to play Spot and Bomb and Simon Says and later, when the rain has stopped, they had the Sand Castle building competition which the group TWINKLE, had won. At night, we had played Build A Tower and after the barbeque, we had the Talent Night. In overall, I would say that all activities on second day went on smoothly without any big problems.

On the last day, we had the Treasure Hunt, which I had to be at the 9th check point. The participants had to go through 10 obstacle courses with the last check point located by the beach. There was no serious injury during the treasure hunt and participants seemed to enjoy themselves. I also noticed all groups' cooperation during the treasure hunt and how they were being so supportive to each other. It was something wonderful to be able to see that. Later on, they had the drama presentation and the last event was the closing and prize giving ceremony.

As a conclusion, I believe that the previous camp in Sekakap was very splendid, wonderful and exciting. Maybe it's beause of the location itself, which is by the beach and provides a very good environment for the participants to learn and practice using the language. Several participants did say that they could also release their tension going to the camp because of the nice, peaceful and serene environment there. Before I end this, I would like to express my gratitude to all the lecturers who have always been there to guide and support us. To Mr. G, Miss Fatimah, Dr. Norazaman and Mr. Faruk, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for everything. We really appreciate everything that you have done for us. To my fellow TESLIANS, we could work really well with each other when we have that toleration and cooperation which undoubtedly, are the most important ingredient to make every organization works effectively. POST MORTEM

Our last post mortem was about 'facilitator should be...'. emmm..for me what we had listed on the whiteboard all can be accepted. all of us have at least one from the list. all people cannot have same category. it is nature that each person has their own 'bonus'. where we can see some of us are loud, some are sporting or flexible and so on. with this kind of combination our life becomes more meaningful and colourful. when each of us has different 'bonus' so each of us play a different role. we have our own role where it come from inside of ourself. which these different roles among us, we try to combine it and become a colourful teslian.
then we tried to colour the camps with our own colour and combine it and all the participants really enjoyed 'the colour' that we made for them. as a result, we were able to throw away the participants negative thought about english language camp.

WE HAD DONE A GOOD JOB IN THE WHOLE WORLD!!

all of us had done really a hard and good job since the first camp. all of us managed to create a good games that can be played for the camps. all of us also had tried our best to changed any weaknesses in a few of the games to make it more fun and interesting.
we had attend camp A and camp B meetings. all of us also had attend workshops for both camps. thank you for ken because willing to buy 'nasi ayam' and drinks for us whether it was not enough. i and zati had to share one 'nasi ayam' and a tea. we don't mind because the 'nasi ayam' was enough for our stomatch.hi,hi.
it also fun doing workshop at nate's house. we managed to finish making snap and alphabet materials in just a few hours. thanks to mr.g because willing to come to nate's house and brought us some food and drink.nyum,nyum
all of us had tried our best to become a good faci during the camp. whether i'm the quiet one among us, i was also tried my best to contribute some 'energy' for the meeting, workshop and camp. it is because i know i lack of contributing 'voice' among us. i just prefer to be silent and listen but that doesn't mean i do not do any work.
ok guy, this camp is my first camp and it is really fun to have you all around as facilitators. all of you a good faci!!bye,bye

Entry 4: Post mortem

what did we discuss on class during post mortem session?Oh,yeah.......about what a faci should be, right? the post mortem actually opened my eyes, you see, because then I realized that all of us have that "faci" deep in our heart, it's just a matter of realizing it or denying the plain fact.

I believe that qualities such as motivating, punctual, responsible, flexible are all in us, whether we are already there or just begin to act like one. however, it's kinda hard for me to be daring, loud and not to mention but i'm going to mention it anyway, assertive. i don't mean to say that i can't accept daring, loud and assertive facis, but i want to be a faci that i could be. oooh....does this confuse you? ok, let's see....i'm quiet, i like to listen what people say, i talk when i should talk, doesn't mean i don't have anything on mind, right? so when i became a faci, i tried to motivate people which required me to talk for most of the time, a thing that i am usually not involved in.

sometimes, i wonder why can't i be daring, loud?....it's not my nature. hey hey...i'm not giving lame excuse but you see, some people are born loud while others are not..not..not so loud hehehe so when we work together a balancing act exists here. imagine what will happen if everybody is loud? the camp would be loud of course, but we need to calm ourselves. remember, differences are strength. well i hope nobody will feel offended by my opinion, i just want to share my thought okay?chow!!
