My reflection
First of all, I would like to make a statement
Language camp really helped my spoken language a lot. Most obviously, my error correction skill. Well, I was quite nervous at the beginning as my game was the first to go after talking in circles
I think the participants' expectation of the camp were high, I was somehow stressed trying to live up to their high hopes. But in the end, I managed to overcome my fear as the support and motivation given from all my friends were superb
You guys rock!! What I'm proud of the most is the continuity of our 'speaking English' routine. I see a lot of improvement/changes as we are really comfortable to talk in English outside the class now.
What did I get from this camp? A collection of new friends =) as I am staying in K9 (about two semesters already) I really enjoy my stay this semester. Here and there, I knew a lot of faces. I was a lone ranger in K9 before. Now I have new friends. (the best participant is just next door, the sultan is just in front of my room
the girl who jumped in sarong is in the same floor
a lot! We greet each other, some are still using English with me... I'm very impressed. A girl did ask me to help her in English while we were watching TV. I tried my best and it feels good when people see me differently now. In addition, the new collection of friends gave me a lot of opportunities in my college activities
the 'smack that'-best participant asked me to join her for K9 annual dinners' performance. I'm doing HIP HOP you guys!!!
The most important thing that I learnt throughout this camp is teamwork... accepting other people's differences. I'm a bad-tempered girl
but this time, we work things out perfectly
like what Mr G said, no catfight etc
In short, I learnt anger management too. Everybody showed so much effort in this camp, even if we missed a lot of things in between...I miss the fun we had. TESL the poser =P well, I know one thing, you guys are really camera maniacs!!!
That's all
I hope it's not just some crap
My desperate contribution essay
First task as a secretary, I had to prepare the words from the director, to be put in the participants' manual. I did the writing with Fatin Nadia, the first secretary. I think we are somehow proud of it because the writing starts off with something we took from sociolinguistics article. It sounds extravagant. Hehe
.The rest, a lot of copy pasting
Not much work to do as the secretary, I just helped here and there
Firstly, I did some last editing to both participants and facilitators manual as the manuals were needed first thing in the morning
before the pakcik starts photocopying the one without the latest changes (given previously). Well, I stayed in K9
the nearest to the office
Nothing much to complain, I willingly helped Wani with that. I only sacrificed my sleep that night and learnt a little about operating a photocopy machine the next day =)
I drew the cartoon characters for the Last letter and Word Idol
I know it's not cute but I hope it's understandable
I think it was
During the ice-breaking night, I ran here and there with Dayah
or should I say I rode here and there.. ( Dayah the rempit) to buy the cups to be used for the supper
. And the cups became an issue.. (Mr G, you keep repeating it eh =P ) Then, we had to go and find a shop to laminate Mr G's forgotten tag
rempit again... Unfortunately, we missed the facilitators' introduction. Sob..sob
That night, my room was used as the headquarters
canteen...meeting room
storage room and etc
hahaha
.my room smelled of nasi ayam all the night. Well, I was trusted to keep an eye of Aida's equipment and Ana's material
I contributed my lovely box to store the materials. Sorry for being a little fussy when I asked you guys to handle the box with care. I'm a little obsessive with my things
I brought a roller and a suitcase for you guys to carry heavy things. I cannot imagine Aida carrying the heavy PA system =P
During the language camp in Gunung Lambak, I co-facilitated the White Tulips group, with Fatin Nadia. I'm quite disappointed because I didn't get the chance and time to get to know them better. The night before, I was busy helping Dayah.
Helped them with the cheers
kept on repeating 'my hump' because none of them remembered!
I was the game master for Catch me If You Can. Thanks to all who helped me with the game
After the Language Camp, I was asked to write a short report about the language camp for the faculty's bulletin. I guess. I wrote the report with Fatin Nadia. Thank you dearest partner
I am the one who collect all the photos/videos taken during the language camp, from the facilitators and the participants
I managed to collect a handful... If you are interested, you can take the CDs from Jaja.
Overall, I helped here and there regardless to what I was supposed to do as a secretary. Everybody lent a hand in all activities. To those who supported and helped me during the language camp, thank you very much
