Camp-hold chores...!!!

Responsibilities for the Language Camp ?

Hi, we meet again !

Our responsibilities were segregated by Bae and I am sure she had a hard time preparing it . I was set under Students Welfare with Mazliza and Hanim; Documentation and Photography with Pooh, Sal, Shylen and Lenny; Drama Presentation and as a facilitator with Nik . I am happy with all the responsibilities given to me for all my teammates are hardworking and responsible as well .
As for the Students Welfare, we are required to prepare prayers for the Muslims which will be taken care by Mazliza and Hanim . I need to prepare a few games for the non-Muslims while the Muslims are out for their prayers . I was asked to prepare either games or any activities related to English Language . I decided to prepare the ?Last Letter? or ?Poison Box? to be carried at the particular slot .
I really need to thank Pooh, Sal and Lenny for doing the pre-camp preparation which is preparing the manual . It is not an easy job, they have to edit, arrange them and standardise the whole set . I couldn?t make it on that day because I have something important to do on that day . We managed to segregate our job and will prepare the post-camp documentation and photography together . Thanks a lot guys!
We chose fairytales as our main idea for the drama presentation on Saturday night . The students have to continue the story from the original fairy tale . For example, they have to come out with a drama of Cinderella II . This will be the continuation from the original Cinderella; what happens after she married the Prince? Isn?t it fun?!
We decided to use two types of fairy tales . The facilitators will provide the titles of the fairy tales . I am sure that the participants will enjoy this drama session .
Finally, Nik is my facilitating partner throughout the camp and guess what we are the GREEN CATS ! The colour that I hate most ! But? it?s ok, the colour doesn?t matter anymore because I have a vivacious partner ?NIK? who I am very sure will make our group lively and cheerful all the time?
Oops?I forgot the latest job that have been assigned to the four of us ; me, Pooh, Aso and Diana. It is to prepare the rewards for the participants. So, we decided to come out with round shaped cards which will be given to the groups if they win any games. The cards will be delivered to the facilitators earlier. The participants are required to paste the rewards they?ve won on the mahjong paper which will be provided on Friday night .
Ok guys? that?s all for my responsibilities? I hope that we will have maximum fun and minimum poignant !

responsibilities.......

MY RESPONSIBILITIES?..

HAI EVERYONE??.

I?m responsible for cleanliness. I shared the responsibilities with Jehan, Hanim, Baizura and Azie. We have to make sure that all the participants follow the rules and clean up the campsite before leaving the camp. We are responsible to take care of the camp area. We need to make sure there is not rubbish or unwanted things that can spoilt the camp area. We have to make sure that the washroom and the rooms are well hygiene. There is competition where participants need to collect as much rubbish as they can collect and the winner will be rewarded. I?m also in the cheer group team with leader Lenny. Lenny and Mimi did a good job by choosing the cheer song. Eventhough this is my first time in cheerleading, I only can give my moral support.

For the rewards, Vimalah, Povanes, Diana and I ( my best buddies since 1st semester ) bought sticker with round shape. We will used it for identify which group win the most. We stick it at mahjung paper to find out which group has the most stickers. This will encourage the participants to be more energetic while participating in the game.

Povanes ( my cute teamate) and I are team for the game ?Chinese Whisper?. We prepared 5 ?Tongue Twister?. Both of us doing the cutting and pasting the materials. This game needs students to be good in listening and speaking skills besides reading. They need to have good skills of memorizing. This game you need to know not the meaning of the sentence but the whole sentences. The participants need to identify whether the sentence used past tense or present tense, singular or plural. At the end of the game, one of the members needs to write the answer on a piece of mahjung paper and say it loud to the rest of the group.

Lenny and I are facilitating partner. To be honest, I never work with Lenny before, and I?m looking forward to work with my new partner. Hopefully both of us can have such a wonderful time with the participants. We need to know the participants well. We?ll do ice-breaking and we do activities together. We need to come out with our group cheer and song. I find the song and Lenny in charge of finding the cheer for our group.
Last but not least, thank you to everybody.

Final Minute Preparations

Throughout the weeks of preparation, we as a team had to go through lots of hurdles. Till the last minute, we are still preparing for the Language Camp. Our main aim is to make this camp a great success and we didn?t even mind those sleepless nights. To keep me awake, I had to constantly chew on something and I believe I might have put on some weight. But when I see the fruit of our labour, nothing bothers me. It will be a great success.

Preparing the manuals did gave us a hard time. Editing, standardizing and organizing the manuals was an on going job. We can?t afford to make any mistakes. Sal, Len,Vim and Shai have been a great help. Without them, the manuals wouldn?t have been able to be produced as the way it is now. I believe, a good combination of  members will always produce a fruitful result.

Rehearsing for the cheerleading was indeed fun and exciting. Though we had practiced almost everyday, we can?t deny the fun we had. Encouraging and teasing one another and at the same time, helping each other to master the cheersong and the steps.

At this point I need to thank some kind hearted ones for their sacrifices, contribution and helping out during the process of editing. Sal and Nik, thanks a lot for the special treatment which I received upon arriving to your room. Sal and Len, it wouldn?t be possible to come out with the manuals, without your Krashen alike brain. Not forgetting the TESLians from the 13 College. Girls, you did a good performance. Bae, thank you for driving me safely back to my college. Not forgetting Sue, Vim, Aso and Diana, who gave me their morale support. Last but not least, all the kind souls who had rendered their help physically or mentally.

Reflection 2
Language Camp Tasks

For the Language Camp, every 3rd year TESLians are given several different tasks to perform. Each individual?s effort has contributed to the upcoming of the Language Camp. I am given the task of Photography and Documenting. Together with Sal, Len, Vim and Shai, we are required to edit each and everyone?s manual. Each manual is divided into facilitator?s manual and students?s manual. We sacrificed one of our weekends to complete the manuals. To tell the truth, the job wasn?t as easy as I thought. We had to brainstorm together in order to produce an error proof manual. We were quite positive about the outcome of the manuals. To our favour, everyone liked it. Nothing would have made us more happy than receiving good responds.

The responsibility that gave me a hard time is to be in the cheerleading. As it was a new exposure to me, I let the professional handle the job. I should say, Len and Mimie had done a wonderful job in selecting the cheers and choreographing the steps. All I can do was to join in the fun and give my morale support. It was fun to be one of the cheerleaders.

Rewards preparation responsibility came over to Aso, Vim, Diana and me. In the beginning, we were lost. However, after a thorough discussion, we decided to use round shapes stickers as rewards. The group with the most round shapes stickers, is declared the overall winner. But, sorry to say, we were unable to do it due to our hectic schedule. We came up with the fastest and easiest way which was to buy the round shapes! It made our life easier.

Among the responsibility assigned to me, being one of the facilitators is the toughest job, I suppose. Thank God, a sweet character like Watie, made things easier for me. We are assigned to the Group Pink Cat! Hope we could bring the best from our Pink Cats! To other cats out there, beware. Pink cats going to knock you out!

Hi Beautiful People!

Reflection 1
Play Day

?That?s a relief!? Those were the first words I uttered to Asotha, my team mate, once we had finished with our language game presentation. We did a game on tongue twister which is called the ?Chinese whisper?. The purpose of the ?Play Day? which was held on the 18 February 2006 was to give the 3rd year TESL students an exposure to conducting games for the Language Camp. After playing each of the games, the plus and minus points of that particular game was highlighted. This was to ensure that the game would be an error proof during the camp. I learn that games involve many factors; rules, competition, relaxation and learning, in particular. The day was packed with exciting and fun games. I noticed that, while playing those games, competition was very important because it stimulated and encouraged us to participate in the activity since naturally we wanted to beat the other teams.  While playing, we had fun, relax, exercise and tease one another. Apart from having fun, we learn at the same time. It brought me back to my school days. Cheering and encouraging one another. Despite the fact that we lost at some games, we were happy for those who won. That?s the strength of mind which I liked in my friends. It was a day to add into my memoirs. Before I wrap up my reflection, I would like to extend my heartiest congratulation to each and evryone of the 3rd year TESLians for their never-ending determination and support. The ?Play Day? was a great success. This wouldn?t be possible, if not for the trust one kind soul had in us. Thank you, Mr.G.

Tick...Tock...Tick..Tock.....

wow, time flies, huh???!!!!! The sooner you learn to enjoy the moment, the easier life will be.....hhhhmmmm....

thanks Sal and Nik for helping me out with my materials....i love you guys...and not forgotten to Jue also....muahsss.....i thought that we could not get the sponsorship for our materials, so, i decided to recycled the manila cards from last year's  teaching pratice and thank you so much to Jay and Ana, for allowing me to use some of their recycled manila cards too.....hugs and kisses to all of you....

Cheer practice has been good, although the energy level is still low....i do hope for some miracle to happen tonight...So help me God.....

i went shopping with Sal yesterday....we bought  new tees...she bought new shoes, new jeans as well...now, that's the spirit my dear.....hehehehehe....we can't wait for the language camp...Tanjung Bidara, here we come.....

I have some advice that i try my very best to understand as well...sometimes, life doesn?t work out the way you think it?s going to be and there really is not always an answer. Seriously though, sometimes things just don?t work out right, you get that painful feeling in your heart and you just want to collapse under the stress.  However, at some point, we have to learn to let go.  We have to let go of the events that you can?t control and put faith into the idea that everything does happen for a reason.  If you can slowly release yourself from your stress and worry, eventually you will find an inner strength and conviction inside of you that you had forgotten it was there all along.  When you learn to let go of what you can?t control, then you will find peace in the end. I strongly believe in that now....thanks Sal and Nik.....my best friends for L.I.F.E!!!!!!

My Responsibilities....My Commitments.......My Way....

As i sit here in front of my computer, anxiously to look back what I have done so far, or have been struggling to learn, throughout my life, I realize that, it is a rather difficult  to accomplish.  However, that?s what I am supposed to do on a eport,  to put my thoughts to words. It's just that, nothing I write seems good enough.  Because the truth is, I do not know why things in life work the way it does...sometimes..... The reflections I am about to reveal are from an intense amount of incidents, opportunities, mistakes and blessings throughout my life.

I think that I have made it this far because I am constantly trying to master the art of compassion in everything i do....Me and Nik, two "unique" individual who has no background at all in designing...(the only thing we're good at, is making hand-made cards....hehehehehe), were assigned to come up with the language camp pamphlet....we took the time and efforts in loking for some of templates form the net....i even went to the library  and take a look all those creative art designing books, which, i have problemsin understanding it....thank God,we managed to design "our" pamphlet...although nothing special about it, but, what really matters in the end of the day,is the amount of efforts that both of us put into....it's original...it's OURS...but, i was surprised to know that the pamphlet that both me and nik designed was not "fully accepted"....only 10 percent of what we designed featured in the final outcome of the pamphlet...then, after quite sometimes, i thought that, i can never be good enough at that pariticular task, i don't blame anyone for that...however, i'm happy with the designs,i would like to say thank you for those of you who willingly to take the time in helping us and i shouldn't have written this report, because, i do not want to take creadits for other people's job.

Group cheer???hhhmmmm.....I try to understand why people are acting like they do and instead of judging them based on my experiences, I try to hold them for their own actions based on their own experiences.  To be honest, taking this approach in interacting with other people has been a way for developing patience and a genuine concern for the well being of others, especially when it comes to teamwork.

i would like to thank my partner in crime,Mimie for helping me, for all the commitments you have put into....(mimie, you are fun to work with, muaahhsss...), be there when i needed you most, and for being so patient with me....i know, it's hard to work with me,but, i'm glad that we both took the differences apart and try to focus on our goals instead.Mimie, you are wonderful....and not forgotten also to Sal and Nik for the support and that's what friends are for, together through thick and thin...rite??!!!!!

i hope you guys love the cheer, ala "Hip Hop" with a little bit of Fort Minor (mike shinoda is mine!!!!!!), Ashlee Simpsons and Missy Elliot on it, and thanks for the routine too Mimie....i could not have done it myself, without you...however, i really hope for more energy, more attitudes and my God, it's cheer....and we supposed to be loud and with a lilttle bit of that "attitude".....i never join any school cheerleading before, and that's maybe the reason why i am not popular at schools (hhhmmmm....)...however, i never give up.....i dare to try something new, i took the risk, and  i love hip hop music, i want to make a change, i want something fresh...something new....

Obviously, good people skills are a necessity for success in life, but I have come to realize that if I don?t accept myself, I certainly won?t be able to accept others.  Now, that is a lot easier said than done.  Constantly, having to check up on yourself and making sure you tend to your needs is actually a really hard thing to do. What?s even harder is listening to myself.  Each time I forget who I am, it is guaranteed that life is going to give me a hard time to let me know that I need to make myself a priority. After all, if you don?t make yourself your number one priority, no one else is...That's for sure.

As for tonight performances, i've tried my very best, so, it's up to you guys to decide what is best for the rest of us....for the rest of the team...

p/s a zillion thanks for all of you who has been very concern about me, for the past 3 weeks after the accident...thank you...

"If you dream alone, it's just a dream...If you dream it together, it's a reality...."

Sincerely yours,
LeNY ^-^ muffy _len@yahoo.com.

Reflection...

Hi....That?s a lot to talk about 18th February 2006.Three weeks before the play day, I have planned other programs to be carried out with a few friends of mine on 17th to 19th February. However, when Bae told that the play day would be on 18th?.I felt like crying. Oh no?. I have to postpone my plan. Although I have agreed to join my friends, this play day was far more important and I must come. Luckily they understood my situation. Nevertheless I did not feel too disappointed because this play day must be pleasurable and worthwhile as all my course mates and I were going to participate in language games which we could get a chance to share great time together as well. At least I still can spend my time here with all fellow friends experiencing the activities that we cannot do so often. Actually I was eager to start the actions since ordinary Saturday was just a boring day. But this time it was different, we would be in the spirit of the games almost the whole day.
The early morning started as usual until four of us involved in car accident. It really shocked me but luckily thank God that we were all safe. To Lenn?I feel sorry for the thing happened to you. Meanwhile, although Iri got bruise on her leg, she managed to cope with it very well. She still actively jumped and run although it was quite painful. Well done! It could not bother you at all indeed. You still survived until the end? By the way, nik, iri and I arrived late at KTF. Thank you to yana and kak nini who fetched us.Diana Lee and Vimalah has began their game. Once joined the others in the game, the mood change immediately and I almost forgot about the accident. People in the group also looked enjoy the game. I really miss such enjoyable moment.
From the experience here, I learnt how to be a good facilitator and teacher. I like the various games we have had here. Most of the games were familiar to me but playing with different people with a range of characters rather gave a brand new experience. For me, the best part was when I have opportunity to run as fast as I can in WHOSE CLUES? game. Finally I could get rid off stress and sleepiness. Since the activities were conducted indoor with air conditioner, it is not as tired as having it outdoor. Regarding to PITFALL game (iri and I), there is a few things that need to be changed and improved.
Thank you so much to Mr. G and beloved friends for all comments and recommendations. I hope all of us will attempt to overcome weaknesses in order to make our camp successful. Good luck for all!!!

Last minute preparations

Hi guys…come again…

The 3rd years Teslian, are exiting to count the day. The day will come. But to achieve the enjoyment of the camp, there are so many task need to be considered. Thanks to Bae as a great director. She was able to handle all the problems and obstacles. Last night, Suhaila and Bae had managed to get our camp T-shirt. It was like what we have expected to get. Nice, beautiful and I believe everyone will look stunning in this t-shirt. We want to make surprise. It is really surprise. I hope the T-shirt will motivate us to finish our final task before we get there. Me as a treasurer had managed to buy and collect everything that I need to do. The money is enough for the camp. There is no balance anymore except for the ribbons.
Next we are still preparing our materials for 10 groups of participants. It is hard task. It is really need concentration, time and effort. Without these materials, the language camp is meaningless. The facilitators’ task is to make sure the material is ready before we go to the camp. We also have been asked to prepare the group cheer and the group song for our own group. We are also at the last stage of practicing our camp cheer and camp songs that will be rehearsed by this Friday with final briefing to make sure everybody is on the right track. We also have surprise for the participant and the lecturer. We will wait and see. All the approval letters and documentation already prepared and Dalea, our secretary, it has been submitted.
Even our body and mind were exhausted, but I know you are really enthusiast to feel this exiting event. This is the time for us to enjoy and have fun together. (Mr. Tiger). Before I rest my case, I would like to wish good luck to everybody and I hope we can perform the best than we can as what we promise as one committee.

Responsibilities

Assalamualaikum...

Responsibilities that have been carried away by the members of any committee will help the activity run succesfully. So, as a committee of a big event like language camp, the task have been delegated to us will ensure that the language camp is well organized.
As Bae said, Nini is a treasurer and always be a treasurer. It was not an easy task. But I have to try my best and show what I can do. Tell me if I?m no longer able to do this task. Every one, surely already knew their responsibilities. My responsibility is regarding to conduct on the first opening event of the language camp. Sure. It is the first task, the registration of the participants. I hope they are also excited like us too. Under this committee, there will be Watts, Iri and Jue. The venue of the registration? Of course KTF.
The facilitators and the participants have to come early to make sure the registration will be finishing on time before the ice breaking and the cheer group activities begin. The participants will be divided into 10 groups and they will be placed according to their groups’ name. During the language camp I and Ana will facilitate the RED CAT group. My real partner actually is a man, however as a man he has decided of his own choice.
The task will be different at Tanjung Bidara Resort, Malacca. HERE, WE COME! Vinod, Jue and I are appointing to manage of the food and beverage. We have to make sure that everyone will get their food and satisfied with their food. Hopefully the food will fulfill our appetites. My responsibility was also regarding the preparation of the rewards for the winner of the camps. The Drama Queen and Best Participants will be the hot part to announce. I, Ana, Yana and Watts, were handling this task. We were already wrapped the hamper and by now, it’s ready to bring to Malacca. I hope everything will clear and we do not face any problem.

responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES?it?s really heavy

I am responsible for cleanliness, preparing the
theme song for the English Camp, and facilitating the
Black Cat (which is our future group?s name and also
referring to the participants). As one of the
committees of the cleanliness I shared the
responsibilities with Asotha which is the leader,
Hanim, Baizura and also Azie. We are responsible to
make sure of the overall cleanliness of the camp
including the main area, eating area and sleeping
quarters. We also have to make sure participants clean
up the campsite before leaving and make preparation
for ?cleaning service?. Let see which group will get
the prize for the Best Cleaning Service.
And the selection of the theme song, we have chosen
a song which is sang by Yolanda Adam and the title of
the song is ?I Believe?. And I believe all of us
already felt the spirit of English camp. I shared this
duty with other classmates such as Hanim, Nik and
Baizura. We are required to search and choose for the
camp song. Now we are trying to memorize the lyric of
the song as we are going to sing it at the end of the
camp. I?m also will become facilitator for the Black
Cat group. These responsibilities will be carried out
with Mimi. So who will become the participants of our
group? For the games, I will responsible for ?The
Amazing Race (G10 Command & Conquer + G11 Whose
Clues), G12 Listen Right and Drama Presentation. All
of the materials are already prepared in correct order
and were put in one place so that we won?t uncounted
any difficulties during the departure. To all
classmates, good luck and enjoy the view of the beach.
I love beaches.

LAST MINUTES PREPARATION??as usual

This is what we call last minute preparations. You
want to know why? Everyone is cracking with their
materials. And tomorrow is the day that we are waiting
this semester. The time has come. I myself just
started to write these assignments that should be due
before the English camp. Madiana (my full time
partner) and I just finished with our game?s materials
(Listen Right) that will be used in that camp. As
always, cutting and pasting is our full time job as a
teacher to be. Don?t get me wrong with that point, we
are pasting and cutting the paper but not
plagiarizing. All of the materials have been put into
the bag so that we do not forget about these important
things.
At 2.06 a.m most of the Teslians are still actively
rehearsed their cheer for our groups. Even though felt
tired with all the stuff, however we still can enjoy
it. That is what Teslians are all about. And the cheer
itself tell us the real situations ?This is ten
percent luck, twenty percent skill, fifteen percent
concentrated power of will, five percent pleasure,
fifteen percent pain and hundred percent reason to
remember the name!!!!? . For group Black Cat we?ve
already choose the cheer hopefully all of you will
enjoy it. See all of you at Tanjung Bidara. I can?t
wait to see the beach. For those who are in charge for
safety, make sure no one go near to the water so that
no one gets hurt. Last but not least, ?chayok? to all
of you.

I was naturally had an energetic strength to start off the day. It was 18 FEBRUARY 2006 on Saturday morning as I woke up early as usual after my door was knocked by OSHIEN? yea Oshien? I?m heading to take my bath. Well, since the night before the day, I had prepared myself purposely for the play day ? the outfit should be in black color T-shirt and plus jeans (this might be BAE?s idea), yet all the game materials for my team (Ninie and me); ?THE SPEECHLESS? should be ready (the color coded cards with nouns, adjectives, progressive verbs and some additional conditions just to make people in trouble? and fun?).

It seemed ages I never had such a truly, deeply and madly play day since I left my childhood time, which I would rather spend the whole day playing with all my gangs. The play day really did remind me of those days I left behind; the joys, laughter and cheers, friendships, team spirits and not too bad to say such a ridiculous argumentation to defend for the sake of my team.  It was an indulging day for me having fun just like a primary school kid... hehehe?

Overall, I would say that I?m glad to have the day; I gained lots of experiences about handling games in an ESL classroom, became closer with my classmates and perhaps acted other than usual in the class. Not to forget to acknowledge my Language Games (SHL 3652) lecturer; Mr. Ghazali for his honest comments in term of improving my group?s game for this forthcoming Language Camp in Tanjung Bidara Resort, Malacca.

Sincerely, a bouquet of roses to the board of committee for your well done jobs.  Last but not least, Thanks so much for my dearest husband for his full supports and understanding me in any situations always all the time. Okay guys, keep in touch..!

Yours;
-NORLELAWATEE/Mrs. Aizan-

in the nick of time

Tomorrow!!! Tomorrow!! The camp starts tomorrow!!!
Well?.I?m sure everyone realise that by now.duh!
We are still preparing for the big event but I?m sure
that most of us are ready for it. Since AMAZING RACE
is a fusion of COMMAND AND CONQUER and WHOSE CLUES?,
we (NICK, IRI , JU and I) are preparing the materials
for both games. During this last minute phase, I?m
making sure the materials for the are ready with 10
riddles for 10 groups, 10 answer sheets and 10
different task for the 10 ?undecided? (since we are
not there yet) checkpoints, not forgetting the puzzle
that the participants need to assemble (just like
COMMAND AND CONQUER) before they can go to their first
checkpoint.
Next, we are still practising our cheer, routine and
camp song. I?m sure it would be a bomb!
We had a lot of practice, almost every day. I think
anyone who dines at the café these last few days would
have memorized the cheer and the camp song too. I?m
still having problems memorizing the song. I can only
recall the chorus? but don?t worry people. I?m
trying...
For the YELLOW CAT that I will be handling with DAYANA
IZYAN, we have chosen a song for the idol competition
and even a cheer for our group!! Hurray!!
I hope the camp will be a big success to our class?
I believe we will, I believe we can

responsibilities....

Hello earthlings!! Language camp is just a couple of
days away and everyone is so busy preparing the
materials and some are having last minute discussion
with their committee members. For myself, I?m leading
the tanjung bidara idol committee, along with IRI
DAYANI and DAYANA IZYAN? hurray!!!
From our discussion, we have come up with some rules
and regulations for the competition. We also have
decided on who should be the judges for the event and
Mr. G ?you are lucky no 1!
Facilitators are required to prepare at least 1 song
for your group, however participants are allowed to
come up with their own choice of songs. The reason you
need to have more than a song is to let them choose
from the selection you have rather than being dictate
or ?stuck? with your choice. Let them have it their
way.. We will brief and provide the facilitators with
the guidelines on Friday.
Besides that, I?m also part of the cleanliness and
camp song committee. For cleanliness, we will be
monitoring and managing the cleanliness of the camp
site, from the lodgings and the activity area. We will
have to make sure that the participants keep the camp
clean by providing the waste plastic or dustbins in
the camp area. Not forgetting to make sure the
participants didn?t leave their leftover unattended
after they finish dining, not littering in the camp
area and always keep their lavatory in hygienic
condition. Nevertheless, facilitators are also
responsible to keep an eye on their groups and always
remind them on the importance of cleanliness?heheh
just like the ads on tv huh?
For camp song, ?I believe? by Yolanda Adam was chosen
to be the camp song. Thank you to anyone who managed
to come up with that wonderful song? it is really
inspiring. Just need to memorize it before the camp.
(I hope?.)
Last but not least is the amazing race. There are many
people involve in this game but nick and I are
responsible for preparing the ten riddles and answers,
while IRI and JULAINE are managing the task for each
checkpoint. The riddles are more or less the same as
the riddles for WHOSE CLUES that I?ve staged for play
day, in fact it is much easier.
So people?hope you are ready for the exciting journey
?of ENGLISH LANGUAGE CAMP 2005!

reflection

On 18th February our play day was held at Dewan Sri
Alam, Kolej Tun Fatimah. We started at 9 am and end it
at 5 pm. Although we were shocked with the mishap
happened to four of our classmates, the day went well
as no one was psychically injured, except for kak Nick
who kept saying the wrong things at the wrong
time?hahah must because of the concussion.
Eleven from twelve games were successfully executed.
Every game was well managed and well delivered since
each game was well briefed and demonstrated. However,
most game?s manual was not completed because some
manuals did not include the objectives of the game?
ours too.heheh...Most of the games required us to work
together as groups and less physical activity, yet
there are some games that made most of us grasping for
air as these games were incredibly physically demand
especially WHOSE CLUES that managed to test everyone
physical strength?everyone participated and cooperated
impressively well. I hope the fun will last forever?

Reflection of Play Day

Reflection of Play Day

Assalamualaikum and hi….every one   ???

It is already late actually to send this reflection, but I don’t want to miss to talk about the interesting event that was held on the Saturday, 18 February 2006. KTF!! We will come again….The Play Day. This is my first experience having a whole day playing language games and it is really impressed me. We have had lunch together, taking picture, screaming and the eagerness to win. It will be the sweetest memory to be remembered. Frankly speaking, I have personally enjoyed each of with every group performance. There are about 10 groups come out with their creative ideas. I like those games very much.
This is the time for us to do something that is not only for educating purpose but also to have some fun. Working as teamwork, and producing a good activity will give us satisfaction. This is the best time to know our classmates better.  Thanks to my partner Watts because we have successfully prepared our material and shared ideas in producing a creative Speechless game slot. Hopefully all of you have enjoyed our game (SPEECHLESS). However, our game was not only for the play day. It is also for the language camp, our great event. I’m sure that everyone feels exited to perform their game for the language camp. Therefore, there are certain areas of the games that need some improvements and modifications to make sure it will be practical and effective.
We have tried our best for the game, but there are certain criteria that need to be improved. We felt sorry for that, and finally we managed to explain the misunderstanding and they were satisfy  with our explanation The comments and advices given will be very useful for us to improve our presentation in the future. We have learnt from our mistake. I know this is a fun game, but may be some of you have misunderstood the rules so that you are not enjoying the game well.
Fun!!! That the suitable word that can I give to explain about the day. But, I think we should not forget what had happen to some of our classmates. It’s was a tragedy. When I was there with Yana, I saw Nick was not in a good mood and I tried to calm her down and Lenny tried to settle about the car crashed. We could consider this as learning from our mistakes. It was a bad experience especially to Lenny, the driver and the passenger too. Hope everything is good now.
Before I end this reflection, I would like to dedicate this special thanks to the board committees and all the 3rd year TESLians for your hard work and support. Thank you to Mr. G for your guidance and advices. Your ideas make everyone exited to improvise their games for the up coming language camp.

Responsibilities for language camp

My ReSpOnSiBiLiTiEs........

To make the language camp become organized, everybody had been given a different responsibilities that should be carry on our shoulder before and during the language camp. Basically I'm a bit suprised when I know that I'm in charged group cheer with other 3 members(I never have an experience with this group cheer before.....:-> )

It does make sense when Baie's told me that I should try something new . Yeah, she's true! I really learned something that I never experienced before. Million thanks to our cheer leader, Lenny that never give up  in order to make our cheer group become possible. Even at first it a little bit slow, but she managed to handle it. Credits to her!For our cheer group, I bought a ribbons for us to wear during our cheer group performance. I hope you all like the colours. It gonna be some kind like rambu ramba la.....Muahahahahahaha!!!!!! I bet we will look cute on stage with these ribbons.

For other members, who gave a brilliant idea;baizura, hanim, sal, nik,........................(sorry if there's a name that I forgot to type here), you all are so good! I enjoyed working with all of you, girlz.Keep it on, teslians!

Instead of cheer group, I'm also handling first aid group where we are resposible with any injuries during language camp. Basically, we are still waiting for the first aid kit. Hopefully we can get it earlier because we want to look all the medicine stuff and learn how to use it..........Just kidding! Of course I know how to do with it. If you're leg fractured, just give you a panadol. Hahahhahhaahaahha!!!!Scary ha?

During the language camp, me and Jehan will fascilitate the BLACK CAT group. So far we are still searching for song and preparing our black cat's cheer.

Okay, that's all I can reflect regarding my responsibilities. Oh, yes! Before I press SEND button, again, thanks to Baie especially and all committees that involved in delegating the tasks. You put me with someone that I've never worked before. At least, from now onwards, I begin to know each one of them closely. I hope they will feel the same thing as me. Peace..........

Hi Guys !

Reflection 1

Play Day !

On 18th February 2006; we the third year TESLians carried out a day full of games and the day was named as our ?Play Day?.
As a third-year university student majoring in TESL, I found the ?Play Day? very interesting. It illustrates how fun is English and how enjoyable to learn it. I am very sure that those who didn?t turn up on that day really missed out lots of fun. You don?t believe me?! Well you can ask those who were present !
We started the day at sharp 9 a.m. as planned. Our game (me & Diana), which was ?Drawing Blind?, started the ?Play Day?. We played a few other games facilitated by the controllers of the games. I enjoyed all the games. Even though there were some minus points but everyone contributed their best for the day. Thank you guys!
As for the parts that could be improved; the rules of the games could have been stated clearer with a simple demo (even I made this mistake), the facilitators should practice earlier on how to conduct the game and be more polite while reacting to the participants dissatisfactions. The main thing is the rules and regulations of the game must be made clear before the game starts not while the game is being played. You have to explain each and everything for these games are going to be carried out in our CAMP!
I personally enjoyed the ?Play Day? very much. All the games were interesting and fun-filled. I enjoyed playing these games; Whose Clues?, Guess It, Pitfall and The Pyramid Game. Finally, I really hope that we will unite as a team and towards the LANGUAGE CAMP !
One last thing that I wish to say is, I agree with the statement given by Fahmy about the unity among us. You are right Fahmy! I do have the same thought and quite disappointed. TESL is a course which is highly respected by others as far as I know?why don?t we strengthen our relationship by having the ?give and take? policy? We are future teachers and we should be open-minded and learn to tolerate with the people around us. There are only few of us and things will go really hard if we are not together.
Guys, I don?t mean to hurt anybody here. Just voicing out my thoughts, that?s all. I really hope that we will do our BEST for the Camp and all the best to all ! Lastly, I would like to thank Mr G for guiding us during the Play Day and gave comments about our game so that we will give the best at the Camp?Bye Guys.

PlayDay

Hai Everyone....

Play day was held on Saturday and it was a wonderful event. I really get to know about my coursemate better. We really enjoyed ourselves. Each games have different objectives and we managed to achieve our objectives. There were 13 games and each of us used our skills in language such as reading, writing, listening and speaking in order to fullfill the games.
Eventhough, beginning of the day I was shocked with the news, Lenny involved in an accident, the play day was going on just smoothly. This is a normal thing to occured and should not be a hurdle to spoil the day.
All of us really had fun because we screamed out our answers. I'm looking forward for this kind of activities in future. We had a chance to get together and knew each other well. We exchanged ideas, giving opinions to improve our game for our English Language Camp that going to be held on 10 - 12 March at Tanjung Bidara Resort, Malacca.
We ( Povanes and I ) need to add more "Tongue Twisters" in order to make the game more interesting. Instead of preparing only 1 "Tongue Twister", we can add another 2 to make the day more lively. But, for the camp we will try to make 5 "Tongue Twisters".
I would like to thank everybody who were involved and struggled very hard to make our play day a reality.Well done to all my coursemates for making the event a meaningful one.To the commitee members, well done for the good job. Last but not least, thank you to Mr.Ghazali Bunari for his effort to carry out the play day.

Reflection of Play Day

Play Day............

Assalamualaikum, and hi everyone! I guess it's not too late for me to send my reflection.. This is the busy week that I ever had in UTM. Moreover, we are now doing our last preparation before language camp. Arggggghhhhhh, I'm quite nervous actually!!

Play Day.......what can I reflect? I supposed to come on that day, but I'm so sorry friends, i had problem with my car. Can you all imagine, I have ready on that day. My first daughter, PeArL was so excited because she knew that we are going somewhere .................
Unfortunately, the gear was jammed. I don't know why? (it's not my major)

I was blurred actually. I really want to go, but I had a problem with my baby, eMeRaLd. She just 2 months. I can imagine that you all must have a great time playing the whole day. What can I do. There must be a reason for all this.

However, thanks a lot to Mr.G for giving me an opportunity to conduct my game in the class last week. I'm so happy actually. At least there's another group (Shailendran and Vinot) presenting at the same day. Thanks for the comments regarding my game. I really appreciate it. I had add some new rules in my game. So girlz and guyz, pls check my latest manual.

Okay, let's rock the Tanjung Bidara Resort. yea...yea....!
We wil, we will rock you!!!!!

Play Day

Play Day¡K Let the Games Begin¡K

Assalamualaikum w.b.t¡K and hi to everyone¡K

At last, we¡¦ve had a great time together after long
and hectic weeks. The venue reminds me of my first
year in UTM. My friends (from KUSZA) and I was staying
at Kolej Tun fatimah (KTF) for a year. Moreover,
we¡¦ve had our Hari Raya celebration at Dewan Sri Alam
(sentimental values). Okay, let¡¦s get back to our
playday. Playday is a very vigorous and memorable
event ever happened in 3rd year teslians. We¡¦ve
started the day with Dalea and Yana¡¦s drawing blind.
It was like an ice breaking for us, everyone seems so
eager to give instructions to their blinded friends.
Then, we continue with the next games and stops at
9.30 a.m to have our breakfast. The delicious fried
Mee Hoon, warm tea plus the opportunity of having
breakfast together (which is very hard to get) really
made us appreciate the day.
I have a lot of things to say about the play day but I
don¡¦t think I will be allowed to write up to three or
four pages so I¡¦ve reduced things that I will write
in here ?º. Personally, the best part of this day is
the cooperativeness we¡¦ve presented throughout all
the games played. That is the gist that we should
digest and practice as a student and as a future
English teacher specifically. All the people in the
hall are very supportive and energetic. I also would
like to give credits to the administrative committee
for the play day. Congratulations guys (Bae and the
gang), you have done a great job! I also want to
dedicate the heartiest gratitude to all my friends for
their wonderful and exciting games. Believe me pals, I
feel like been given a chance to be a child again ?º.
Talking about games, I will not talk much about our
(Sajehan and I) game (BEYOND THE SONG) since my
partner who is also my unchangeable roommate?º had
given detail explanations about it. However, I would
like to apologize for the frustrations I could capture
during the sketch presentation session of our game
that day especially to Miss Hanim a.k.a Siti
Nurhaliza. I¡¦ve been informed that she will play Siti
Nurhaliza struggled confronting her scandal with Datuk
K a.k.a Zuwairi. (The main idea of her group
presentation is it¡¦s not easy to be Siti Nurhaliza
?º). Dear Hanim, hope this will make you happy?º.
Personally, all the ten games played on that day had
given me ample tips on how to manage games in
classroom in the future. Furthermore, the immediate
post-mortem at the end of every game is a brilliant
strategy so that every point either strength or
weakness will be highlighted on the spot so that the
possibility of lifting out important parts to be
tinted will not happened. To Mr. G, thousand thanks
for your comments and suggestions?º.

P/s : Lenn, I felt sorry for what had happened to you.
Be strong girl!

(Liza, Jehan, Hanim, Nik, Sal, Lenn, Ju, Iri, Bae,
K.Su Adeq Zura, Diana Lee, Vimalah, Poo, Asotha,
K.Wati, K.Nini, K.Dalea, Yana, Y, Fahmy, Vinot and
Shai ) You are the best! Teslians are the best!
