MY INSIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE ELC 2007 [ this is a reost. the 1st was a disgrace, just fixing the spacing only.haha....]]
Salamz and gd day 2 all
Parting is such a sweet sorrow
PRE CAMP
The camp was great. I hadda lots of fun. Mostly by watching these kids struggled to participate in our activities. And I get to know more about my fellow friends.
Basically, my job for this camp was:
Assisting Siti Hajar as the Treasurer of Camp B. Helping her in allocating money for the bureau that needed it, balancing the account and the typing up of things. My role here is a minor one only. She was the one who had been carrying most of the burden of our budget as I was and still a number intolerant.
Helping other bureaus especially the Souvenirs and Materials, along with other facis. Sorting out the never-ending participants' folders and their tags, wrapping up the souvenirs, (not very artsy in this department).
Preparing the flashcards for the Word Idol Session, along with Rubi. It was like a factory operator. Auto piloting in tracing, cutting and pasting the cards, all 200++ of them.
Dreading the Battleship session. It was a nightmarish game!
DURING CAMP
I was assigned as the Mini Director of Camp B, along with my friends cooping in at the Study Room of Block B, Aspuri.
My Group was the HARRY POTTER [with Prema & Mira]. I didn't help them much with the kids. Sorry gurls
To THE GURLZ: Mira [soooo material, hehe
], Izzati, Ina, Prema, Malini and Jeya. Thanx a million to all of u!!!! Camp B was a success. All of us had loads of fun.
Game master for Merry Go Round. [Icebreaking session]
Collector of overall marks for the closing ceremony, calculating and deciding the winners for the awards prepared. I missed the final round of the Drama Presentation with other mini directors.
POST CAMP
Helping Hajar closing the account.
Alhamdullillah, we managed to save some for beneficial use later on. Right guys? Better have balance than suffered from insufficient fund.
MY EXPERIENCE
Once upon a time there was a place called the Faculty of
Education, UTM. This was where the country got its fresh
supply of uppity teachers, eager and wide-eyes to teach
the young brats who could outdo them anytime and anywhere.
Then there was this course called the TESL program, which
tragically, the only course there that was exciting and
full of fun people, unlike the mad scientists-to-be,
running around with their precious experiments a.k.a
world pollution, and also the maths people with only
numbers running dripping thru their ears. And or course,
not forgetting our fellow aspired athletes and ustazs
and ustazahs which no words could ever describe them.
To fulfill the requirements of graduation, the TESL
people needed to take this one particular paper
called the LANG GAMES.
After huffin' and puffin', toiling away doing the
appointed tasks assigned by the ever clever and
professional director, then it was time for the
people to carry out the main event: the LANG CAMP
at STAR PUTRA, KULAI.
Braving the early hours and hunger, the people traveled
to the school by bus. The first session with the participants
was the make or break session although it was too early
to tell. Things were a bit awkward at the beginning,
but the people slowly gaining speed as the day went.
Especially at the MINI CAMP B, out of the 4 mini
camps established due to the large number of
participants, things were great. The facis were
enjoying themselves along with the participants.
During the night session, new participants kept
popping up like mushrooms. But the Camp B people
handled it well.
On the closing day, the last breakfast together was
a very special one. The "mee masin" was the culprit
of the day. Luckily the ever present and caring lecturers:
Mr. G & Dr. Norazman were kind enough to go out and bought
the people a variety of buns as substitute, as they
themselves were unable to stomach the mee!!
All went well and ended well. The closing ceremony was a very
memorable one in a long long... time. Too many things happened
during such a short time. Everyone must be remembering the bits
and pieces of things there.
I would like to thanx Mr. G, Dr. Norazman, fellow friends
from CAMP A, KLUANG for their insights, guidance and
cooperation in making BOTH camps successful. And also the
facis from CAMP B, KULAI for sticking together thru every
thing, swallowing every hardship,misunderstanding, grudge,
back stabbing, some fun and laughter, the meaning of
cooperation and getting to know the unknown sides of our
fellow classmates, in the process of making this happened,
in getting the marks that we were fighting for, some more
than others. Hey, it's a free country, rite?
And lastly, a thousand apologies from me if these are
to blunt and real to handle. It's the reality, not just
some fairy tales. I'm sure I'll be getting a lot of
hate mail after this!!! Hahaha
. Do I care? Not a bit.
Only for those who really worked hard with honest,
down to earth intention just to see the happy and
appreciative faces of all the participants that we
have met and loved there. Their faces were priceless.
We have made it, 3SPL!!!! We have succeeded in putting
smiles and interest in learning English even if it was
temporary. That's more important than the marks that
we'll be getting after this. To MIRA, ZATI, INA, PREMA,
MALINI AND JEYA, thanx for making MINI CAMP B a success,
even if we didn't win the drama thingy. We sure did
grab others.
We are not anyone's subordinates. We are equals.
We Did It!!!!!
