Bukit Aping Language Camp Report by Ng Shi Ing
Last weekend, an English Language camp was held at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Aping, Kota Tinggi for standard six students from Sekolah Kebangsaan Lok Heng, Sekolah Kebangsaan Waha and Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Aping. It was a collaboration between the 4th year TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) students from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and Felda Bukit Aping Barat to help spread the awareness of the importance of the English Language to the primary students. The 3-day camp was held from the 24th of January till the 26th of January 2003.
The English Language camp collaboration has been on going for three years and it has received strong support from the Education faculty of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and the Felda officers.
There were 14 4th year TESL students and 2 lecturers that ran the camp with more than 100 participants from three different schools making the camp a success. Many activities were carried out to capture the students¡¯ attention and at the same time trying to drill into the students that learning English is not only educational yet fun.
Before the activities were carried out, the students were divided into 10 groups. This is to allow easy control of the TESL students over the primary students. Each group had a totem to represent such as domestic and wild animals namely lion, bear, ant or even cats. Each group has to attach a certain criteria or character to their totem and the students came out with creative characteristics to bring their totems alive for example ¡®smart wolves¡¯ and ¡®fighting lions¡¯. Not only that, the students needed to create a group cheer to represent their team.
Most of the activities that were carried out were done in games format. The language games were created by the 4th year TESL students as part of fulfilling one of their course requirements. Some of the games that were cooked up by the students were ¡®Word Bingo¡¯ where words were used instead of numbers. This was one of the students¡¯ favorite as it brought out the kids competitive edge to try to complete the game before their friends. Other games included word formation activities and sentence construction games to help the kids to utilize English to the maximum.
Besides that, English nursery rhymes such as ¡®Jack and Jill¡¯ and ¡®3 blind mice¡¯ were taught as well to the students to liven the environment. English children songs were also introduced and taught to the students with songs ranging from ¡®Top of the World¡¯ to ¡®Boogie Woogie¡¯ and ¡®Do-Re-Mi¡¯. The number one song that remained on top of the chart for 3 days consecutively was ¡®Boogie Woogie¡¯. The students enjoyed the action that went with the songs thus making it their favorite song for the camp.
Other sources of motivation were also included in the camp besides introducing games and songs. The other motivation was giving away hampers to each group for each category best suited them such as ¡®the most cheerful group¡¯, ¡®the most polite group¡¯ and others. Not only that, all the students in the group were supposed to present a drama with the given plot. The kids needed to finish the ending for each plot and present it to their friends. The best group who presented the best drama would win a hamper.
All in all, the language camp was a success as it motivated the 4th year TESL students to contribute continuously to the society in educating the younger children and youth to the importance of using the English Language and it open the minds of the primary students about how fun learning English could be.

Dearest friends....suddenly we had a class this morning, actually i was quite lazt to attend the class but meeting with you guys in this class is something difference compared to other classes. most of you are more lively, energetic, funny and this is something that light the class with all of our laughter and funniest jokes from everyone of you.not forgetting mr.g as the most happening lecturer i've ever met. thank you very much sir for your patience in handling all the 'hyperactive' students that may give some lecturers a great headache.for the post-mortem, we also managed to make the post-mortem something livelier than the usual post-mortem which is usually something serious and tense.i want to apologize to some of you as i realized that maybe i am one of the person who gave less contribution for this camp and congratulate the rest for giving such a great commitment as to make sure that our camp is the best camp ever. ohhh!!! before i left i would like to make a suggestion. as mr.g said that our camp is the best camp, can mr.g make a cd copy of the things that have been recorded during the lg.camp as it will be something memorable for all of us after we left utm. that's all for today. happy chinese new year to all of my chinese friends (to li min and jc, what's up with ur pimples?) and happy holiday!!!!bye..
people, no matter how 1 camp's environment is better than the other one. i always believe that the one that you had great time with your group is the one that is the best. when i gave my comments in class, i really hope no one took it personally. first of all, i was not in the camp(2nd one) long enough to feel for the kids. even if the place was less condusive i believe the kids made it up to you ppl. i think it didn't matter to you when you have the lovely kids with you. all you wanted was the best for them and not how the place should be at its best for you. so, i know each and every one of us enjoyed both the camps. one more thing, Happy Chinese New Year and Gong Xi Fa Cai to all the Chinese and happy holidays to those who are not celebrating Chinese New Year.
Hello PEOPLE!
How are you? Dead tired rite...i know i am...according to sue i snore last nite...wow thought that i dont snore...but i guess i did!
First all, i would like to apologise to those that i have irritated to in the camp..didnt mean too but i hope that you would all find it in your heart to forgive me...it is just this habit of mine that tends to test people patience...menguji kesabaran.
Next i would like to thank MrG for showing me a different perspective in contributing my services to the community. If i am stationed in Muar next time when i am teaching, i hope that i would be sent an email so that i can help out in the lg camp, faci or volunteer...i am cool with it. (Miss Fatimah had a hand in making me feel this way too). MrG you have my email, so please dont forget to email me. (Give me 2 marks - hahaha will be invalid when i work)
Another thing, i would like to say that i enjoyed working with you guys again. Oliva twist and now lg camp...man it will not get any better than this. I would like to thank each and everyone personally...so here goes...sorry a long one this time.
Cech - great director! The most patient one i have seen..you have to teach me how to be patient
Mas - providing the jokes but you are helpful and thus i advise to take the jokes lightly because if they joke about you, they like you!
Tiqah and Aida - thank you for running to my rescue when i needed to go for a pee break
Zam - You take charge when no one was there and you are set the best example by being the most helpful and the most humble.
Yanni - Your love to the kids, help me explore my side of loving these kids.
Nadya - Hey, send me your wedding card soon yah
Linda - Quiet but full of laughter in the end when we merged groups. thanks for saving the groups!
Vic and Bob - Vic you are tense but you are turned out to be the most responsible for your group. Thank you bob for helping him!
Lina - Mama lion you rule!
Yeefen and limin - hey you guys, dont know what to say, just need to say thank you!
Love the pictures, eventhough most people who went to tengaroh and told me that ba was not that marvellous but i still feel that this place has memories...treasure hunt remember that...exercise remember that...eating remember that...
The term is coming to an end and we have yet to post our best journal entry so lets get it down...
Please remember to check your email after you graduate and read the daily newspaper...i might be sending you a message to come in your best outfit to

Hello guys!..it's good to be back in UTM.hopefully that everyone is ok..except for me and i just knew this morning that kak tiqah had 'ceret-beret'.this is not her first time she had 'ceret-beret' but as i was informed she also had this same kind of desease after language camp in Tenggaroh..hahahhahhahah...i hope she will going to be ok in few days. as for me, i have quite a bad soar throat. maybe because i 'aummmmm!!!' too much in aping together with my 'fighting lions' group. actually i missed the first camp in tenggaroh as i want to join that camp as a volunteer but unfortunately i had to finish my PSM. after joining the lg.camp in aping, i think it was quite fun and also tiring as i didn't get enough sleep and i also got a serious backache because we had to sleep on the floor.but it's okay as i had the experience in dealing with kids not because i don't have any brothers or sisters (for your info.mr.g) at home but i'm not that kind of person that can easily mingled with little kids as maybe i've got no sense of humor (is it tqa?) i'm not that talkative (?) i'm too serious (my face?) and i talk only when needed (as mr.g said to me)...hmmmmm... what can i do?to mr.g who is luckily not my boyfriend (as you said to tqa and cecah) i'm not that serious as you think. i'm actually quite talkative, funny, interesting and a good girlfriend ;)...you can ask any of my friends. they know me better. as to the rest of my dearest friends, you did a great job and thanks for all of your help and ideas and you have gave a joy to this camp (especially to zam and jc who was very talkative). to mr.g thanks for your comments, actually my parents are also not sure with me sometimes and also my boyfriend. i don't know how i can deal with this 'serious' problem with my face.and also thanks to you for the drama.i'm sorry because we only managed to get the third prize. thanks to the honourable judges..you came at the right time and at the right place.this is too long!..before i end up, i would like to dedicate 'serangkaap pantun'. i have a pen, the pen is blue, i have a friend, my friend is YOU!...another one, pen merah, pen biru, you marah, i love u......bye!!!AUMMMMM!

huh, finally we came back from the camp. That day we waited until 6:30pm as the bus driver sesat for 3 hours. Right get into the very cool-weather bus, took out blanket and slept for one hour. The 3 days 2 nights camp passed very fast. In the twinkling of eyes, it's overed. I like the weather there the most, the air is fresh although it's cool but better than hot and sunny, right people? All the kids are cute and actually love to be with them very much. Hope the rest of you will really enjoy the 2nd camp this weekend and have fun with all the kids. It's a bit tired for sure, but it's worth. Really!! And for you guys who are going to present your thesis this tomorrow, GOOD LUCK. I'm still preparing for it as only will present this Friday. Anyway, at least we get over this 4 credits headache subject, then, we can concentrate in ESP project then. Time flies, we are going to graduate soon, another 3 months in Johor only if including our teaching practical.....SMILE ALWAYS! =)

wrapping up the hampers was a really great experience for me. Going shoopping, searching for the lowest price to serve the budget. and when you get to save a lot, you feel so good. then, when you start to wrap, you just don't feel like stopping. I am really sorry that I only got to help with the first five. Too bad Lina didn't get to turn up, if not, we might get to see more shapes compared to the ones that we had. But, the hampers look great anyway. Congratulations, people. we are now ready with all the materials and prizes ready. I've got the programme book too. It sounds ok to me. at least, there are appropriate rest time. Hey you kids there, we are coming!!!!
Tomorrow we are going to the language camp. Huuray! Basically we discussed the activities and and had brief meeting about the camp. Hopefully we will have fun there and everything will go smoothly. Really pray that the UTM bus will come on time as promised, so we can reach Tenggaroh by 4:30pm and start our motivational talk as planned. I believe all of us will do our best and have the best performance then. Wrapping present seemed easy but it takes time too, And all the materials, luckily this time the camp not really many materials to prepare as most of the games are SUBSTAINABLE, hahaha. For those who are going for the second camp, share with you guys about our experiences next week then. SMILE ALWAYS!

hmm, it's really great that the banner can get to be done in such a short time. sorry that i can't stay till the end but anyway, everyone was already crowding the banner. too many cooks spoil the broth. we'll be going shopping today. but, at a pemborong. we have decided on what items to get. and a lot of worries on the budget. if only there isn't a budget and we can spend as much as we want. things will get so much simpler. i find the motivational talk was alright the second time when we did it in full. I am sure it will turn up ok when the speakers are well-prepared. no worries about them. they are great. however, i think some of those fro the second camp is a bit worry as to the task of wrapping prizes. this is because they will only be free after presenting PSM. dont worry pals, i should be free after wednesday. we can shop on wednesday night and start wrapping after that. the first camp will set as an example. at least we are able to tell what kind of other preparation is needed before the second campers set off for their trip. Good luck to everyone in the camps and also PSM!
hello there.....hmm, yesterday was fun and pretty stressful as for me, haaa...coz i lost my temper..sorry again cech....but we have hugged, i know u won't blame me anymore....equal right? here, i wish all of you who will be leaving for the first camp all the best and let us know what is lack so we can improvise it on the second camp...i just hope that everything will go smoothly as we have our psm presentation coming and this really scary. So, i hope we will still help each other for the second camp because that week is the most stressful week for most of us. by the way, Lina, i am so impressed that you actually know how to wrap presents in different kinds of forms....that is so cool...you know what, coz i am an idiot in wrapping including my own books...so don't even mention presents....i think my family and housemates should know better....haha....about 105 entries...ok lah, i will try my very best to contribute more....i didn't get to see the end result of the banner but i know it must be very cool coz i chipped in to paint on two or three alphabets...hahahahaha......but yesterday's scenario did remind me of our teamwork during olivia twist....well, like abang shah always say 'THIS IS A GROUP WORK, NOT A ONE MAN'S SHOW' something like that....haha....but that was so strong among the actors and actresses....now this phrase shall go to all of us who will go for the camps....LET'S WORK FOR IT...

Hello guys!...yeah it's been a long time not to see your name in here Lay Kian.I'm also have quite a headache as I plan to finish my PSM today..Please pray for my success. Yesterday was quite fun for all of us as we were able to discuss on the sketch for the students...thumbs up to Linda as she was so sporting and she can speak Tamil very well..amma!!!(hehheheheh). As for abg. Shah and kak Riece, they were a good match and hopefully the kids will enjoy and get something valuable from the session.Maybe if possible both of you can practice on the script although we all knew that you are creative, spontaneous but it will be better if you can plan on what you will say later.Good luck!.I agree with Lay Kian that this camp iss some kind of 'leisure tour' although it's only in 'TENGGAROH' but come on guys...after all this while we concentrate on our PSM, its time for us to have fun and contribute something before we left UTM.To Sue and Alariece, you may not be coming to Johore as both of you will fly away to Sarawak and this is just the only time for you to explore some new places in Johor other than City Square, Jusco, etc...but for me..hmmmm...there will be no other places except JOHOR...hidup Johor!!!! (abaikan!)...That's all for now..to Cecah (if she has registered!), you are ultimately the most creative person I've ever met..our banner is MARVELLOUS!!...and to Mr.G, we will try our best to get 105 entries..have faith in us;)..and last but not least, for your information Sue...I can wrap the presents into different kinds of animals (tapir, platypus, salamander, ameba, protozoa, etc.).Just name it!...That's all...Bye everybody and plz help the government to control the population.
It is really a long long time i never log in here as busy with thesis, seldom online, and the most headache thing is whenever i online, the computer will hang due to the reason i downloaded the Netscape and tried to install inmy computer. Sigh..waiting to send fot re-format the whole computer, but waiting until i have finished the thesis presentation first. That's why. Now, i'm doing my searching and responding in one of the lecture's room. He is preparing his presentation while i'm using his computer to surf the net.haha...nice! Huuh, just finished the thesis and going to print it out submit tomorrow before leaving for the camp. The camp will be one of the 'leisure tour' for me. At least, we can EAT, PLAY, EAT, PLAY, EAT, PLAY.hahah...thats part of the routine, you will gain weight after the camp as there is 6 meals a day. It's nice to try to eat with your fingers like Malays. for non-Malay, may be we can try it. It's not that difficult and i have tried it during my fist languge camp last year. hahaha...Hope have unique experience with those who are going to TENGGAROH 4 with me. SMILE ALWAYS =)

whoa....did not know that there are still a lot more to do just to get full mark for this weblog assighment. Anyway, Li Min as the treasurer had collected RM10 from each language camp members for the prices. Initially each one would have to pay RM5 but due to certain circumstances, the sponsorship money is late, the collection was needed. The first language camp is coming soon. Maybe the members felt worried..I know I was..because we didn't do anything much. Compared to our last project (drama class), the workload was like tonnes and tonnes...time seemed to shorter by 10 hours each day. Maybe there is not much to do for this camp, but still I hope for the best.Afterall, we do have a reputation to keep...the BEST and nothing but the BEST!!hihi...I think I have 100 words here...

Hello and good morning guys,
Just a simple proposal.
Why dont we go over what we are suppose to do this coming Tuesday?
This is to ensure that everyone there knows what everyone is doing and also to recruit last minute volunteers.
What do you say, peaceful environment with great people and great activity?
p.s. welcome back Yani!

good afternoon guys!!!...Next week is going to be a big day for us as we are going to handle a bunch of kids in Tenggaroh...for me, I feel quite excited about it as it's been quite a long time I haven't been to any camp.About the game 2, I can say that Victor and I are quite blur about this thing (extreme dictation)..Maybe we will follow on Alariece's advice to see Mr.G before it's too late...Actually Victor is very busy with his PSM and I think he's quite stress with his new supervisor...I agree with Alariece on her suggestion to collect money from the rest of the members to help Cecah...I am actually a very helpful person, so there is one question I would like to ask. Can I join both of you to wrap the prizes? (to Alariece and Sue)..Maybe my ideas and creativity can help you?? (hahahhhaahhh...) just kidding but I really want to play a part and contribute something for this camp although I'm actually from group 2...That's all for today..see you guys in class.....chow

heeeloooo again!after weeks MIA from this blogger thing, i'm back! oh ya, welcome back to class Yani! alright, seems like everyone is anticipating the first camp. YUP, running out of time, really gald that u guys realise that matter! for the game 2, we only do the students handouts, NO NEED lesson plans and lit.review. (for those who got the wrong info earlier on, sorry that u guys did extra work) Although every pair surely has a game to be conducted, we are still looking for games which, according to Mr.G, are 'the sentence level game'. Shah has suggested a few sentence level games during our previous meeting. I think some of the ideas can be implemented. So, hopefully Shah can explain further about his ideas and perhaps some pairs who only have one game (like me and Sue) can help out in these games.any more ideas for sentence level game?if need further explanation, direct it to Mr.G ok :) hmm..banner,I heard Cecah had discussed with See Yan, for the prizes..haa..last meeting Cecah said she'll debit her $ first, but then, we suggested that the treasurer collects $ from us a.s.a.p.At least Cecah will have less burden. So the wrapping prizes activity can be done at our house as most of us were assigned to do so. For Game 2, those who are not sure how to play/conduct the games MUST ask Mr. G a.s.a.p too.actually, he's worried that most of us can't understand Game 2 (sorry sir, have to let them know this) so, next Tues after the treasure hunt- Tropical Garden,we'll have one of the 'havoc' meeting there, and perhaps explain about the games again.See y'all!
waaaaaaaaa....limin, i didn't know you have second thought of going to the first camp....actually if i have the time, i might join also but seeing that we are really running out of time as VIVA is around the corner, so i don't think i will join. Is it ok for you (Mr G) to delete the 2 marks scheme because it's kind of hectic for us to join just because of two marks....*sigh*...please...seeing that we are at our final semester, there are many reasons that we cannot join another camp at this month, this hour this moment....anyway, the final decision is still in your hands...by the way, what are the preparations that we have to do besides thinking of the prizes (for my case) and games? AJK Tinggi, please don't stress yourself too much and throw some of your burdens to us (though i hope there are not), hehe...

Alloooooo.......hye..guess who am i..Lina is here..like all of you, i'm also busy like hell! my supervisor is not here to help me as she already went to 'haji'..Next week we will go to language camp in Tenggaroh. Although i should be going to the second language camp, i think i don't want to miss working with the rest of my friends that will be in lg.camp 1. it will be a great fun to be working together as a team maybe all of us will have the same feeling conducting this one as we have conducted Olivia Twist. to Li Min, just try to make yourself happy and enjoy...Yani has recovered although she hasn't FULLY recovered, i really hope that thing will go back to normal soon..Cecah, Mas and Linda..you guys are working very hard..hopefully that three of you can handle all the works as planned. Ok..that's aall for now... see ya tomorrow!!!!

Hi people… So busy lately that I didn’t have time to go online. Bobby purposely sent a sms informing that he replied something to my last message. Anyway, I have not read it somehow, ‘cos I am typing this in Microsoft Word and send it out later.
The language camp is just around the corner. Frankly, I don’t have any feeling about it, unlike the preparation on Olivia Twist. Maybe, after this week, we’ll be working like hell, I believe. But, I will enjoy myself, since this is gonna be the last fun thing we do together. So friends, don’t give yourself much pressure, especially Cecah, Mas, Linda. After all, it’s “sub-sub water”. All of us were experienced and well-trained….Hmmm, considering whether to join the first camp or not, for the sake of being with my dearest friends and partly to join in the fun! Shall decide with the rest!! Can’t promise ya (those who are from Group 1). Cos, of presentation…Ok people, I have to stop here. I have PSM to do, lots to add and redo. See ya!! Good luck to all.

hellooo...just got back from my micro teaching.anyway, heard that Yani is recovering and now at home. That's a relief and definitely a gud news. Anyway..our first language camp is coming up soon but I am still unsure of what we are supposed to do apart from compiling the games, coming up with lesson plans etc. I mean, maybe we will be told later about this but, what are supposed to do when we get to the camp, the agendas, the programmes etc..those are still unclear and hate to break the news..time is running out!!hopefully things will go according to plan!!and let's have fun out there!!Cecah...hope that you can handle the pressure of handling this project...you do know that we are here to help you if there's anything thjat you need!!
hello!!! just waiting for my microteaching class at 11. A horrible day to wake up early, when its so cool n cloudy!! anyway, yeah, i'm supporting wan ling n sue's concern. Yani, do get well soon!!! as for shiing's idea of compiling evrything and using the same materials for both camps (i'm assuming this is the idea?), isn't that what we're supposed to do? do we have to come up with different materials for both camps? it will be good if all of us could practice together. saves time! but of course, its a bit impossible. maybe just once or twice and then we split to the 2 gps. it's gonna b hard work throughout the coming week! also, on the motivational session, aishah's idea of coming out wif a short sketch is good! it's a whole lot better than us talking nonstop! well, cant wait to go shopping for the prizes!!!!!!
Sunday, January 05, 2003
Hey hey...totally agree with the rest of what sue and wan ling stated.
Why dont they have something else to do instead?
Mebbe come out with a compiling the songs for both camps or coming out with the exercise steps for morning exercise.
I think that is burdening but not so burdening...Besides circumstances do happen and we dont like it to happen either.
Please do have a heart Mr G because i know that you have one that is warm and fuzzy!
By and by, it's time to do our viva presentation and then we can be on our merry way to adulthood (groan)
Oh lg games dudes and dudettes, look out for more details regarding the viva from Pn Tina or make an effort to visit the paper outside her door if there is a notice and then we all can be on our merry way!

Mr.G, I am writing in response to Wan Ling's entry. i completely forgotten about the whole thing,as it was nothing related to me..hihi..don't blame me for only caring about my own well being..anyway..I am not totally that obnoxious or self centered. I do feel the same way. It is a bit too heavy on the two girls. I mean, when all of us did ours, it was heavy enough plus other things that we have to do. Anyway, it is not Yani's fault that she is down with dengue that led Tiqah presented in a very last minute. We are trying our very best to score in this subject as there is no excuse for us to do badly in it. I mean all of us gave our commitment and do everything that is required for the course. So, let's cut them some slack shall we?Even though this might came late..oh and Yani...hope you will get well soon!
Saturday, January 04, 2003
Mr. G, I really think the extra work for the two girls who did not get to present during our last lesson was a bit heavy on them, to come up with the lesson plan, conduct and look for the literature review. i think at least, skip the literature review. they didn't come for a reason. at least, for sure, yanni was unable to conduct the lesson because of dengue fever. She should be excused. But, of course to be fair she has to do something in order to get her marks. but, the something is really a big thing. she has already done a lesson plan and literature review with her partner. the only thing she didn't get to do was the implementation. and, because of that, she has to everything all over again. It's really a pity. Same goes with the other one. sorry, I can't remember who was the other one. and, I am not sure ofher reasons.

hikhik...forgotten that I am supposed to talk about serious matter here, which is about language camp. What is the newest info...hmm..let me see..the jersey!! I find that it is nice, at least it is something different compared to any of out T-shirts before..tsk..tsk..at least it does not have orange, black and a bee!!anyway..I don't mind wearing that jersey!! it is not that ugly, besides the real thing that matters is to ensure that the language camp successful and something that we can look back proudly, the same feelings that we have when Olivia Twist proved to be something that we can be proud of!! let's have fun and let the kids have fun and actually gain something through the language camp. It is heartbreaking when you see that there are still a lot of kids out there that still crawling wayy...behind the rest of the world and it is something overwhelmingly satisfying knowing that we actually played a part even when it is small in the kids' future.
hello...helo..hello..people of the earth!!looks like today is the day that we have been waiting for...TESLian Nite...NOT!!!is it me or is it just me again...this is something that I'm struggling still to develop the appropriate enthusiasm over it!!other than that...whoa...there's the practical thing coming up...and due to the fact that I have the "ulu" face, once gain the conspiracy had managed to dump me to a place where Timecel won't work!it is bad enough that I have no idea at all the places in Kluang...imagine this, if I got lost..I won't be able to call for help cause Timecel is such a lousy line that they don't cover kluang!...i think laa...anyway, dear frens...gud luck, may all of you come back in one piece and still have your sanity restored!!
Thursday, January 02, 2003
yeah....so boring. in fact, i really hate practicum. i mean, sigh.....i believe there are many of you facing this problem. you see, this is the time for us to so-called 'live independently'...but who learn in the end...it's cool if you get someone who can do work on their own, but if you are with someone who cannot do things alone, then it's your doom. i don't know what i want to say actually, but just feel 'benci' for this coming practicum. i had no idea if i had made the right choice for changing school because i feel sri rahmat and sri perling 2 are the same...maybe i will feel better if i have transport, hahahahaahahhaa...that's everybody's wish, i am referring to whom are in need of cars........hehe....by the way, does anyone here knows about sri perling 2? it sounds hmmmmmmm.......i just want to knwo how is the school, its system, the teachers, the staff, most important of all, the students........
I agree that time really flies and soon we would be going out for our 2nd micro-teaching. (groan)
Not so nice huh...
This message is just a sory note and an enlightening note to the OC of Lg games.
I would like to apologize to the team for not going to the camp on Wednesday at ermengency notice but i thought that the four was suppose to go and it was last minute notice and i hardly react well to last minute notice.
If you tell me a day earlier, then i could have prepared.
Hope that you guys understand.

When can we achieve the previous messages successfully by viewing with the web page? If we cant manage to do it, all the messages only can be read but cannot post any comments. Time really flies. It's year 2003, it's our last few months in UTM. Can you imagine we have spent almost four years here since year 1998? Wao, amazing, we survive until today. still remember when i just came here, i still wondering how am i going to have four years here-so long. But now?? things have changed. There are many new things for us to explore...do be brave to explore and take all the opportunities up to try. Never Try, Never Know!! Smile =) btw, Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to everyone!! well, happy as it is. but just can't understand why is there no holidays here in Johor. Back to Language Games, I think the jersey is really great, if the UTM logo isn't there. but, it's still great compared to some that we had bought years ago. Hmmm, Mr. G, do you have any that is without the UTM logo? Oh, by the way, are we going to wear it on both days? does this mean we have to get 2 ?

Happy new year!!!yup, really hope for a happy happy year especially starting from our suppose-be-cool Teslian Nite then move along to jeng..jeng..jeng..what else? The long awaited language Camps! Hmm..by now we should have meetings with our team members so that we'll have a clearer view on what to expect from the camp. So...perhaps meetings can be done on Tues afternoon, after Lang.Games? If not, then i urge everyone, pls update your teammates on the plans/preparation (maybe some mysterious dance steps..hik..hik..).The less cahllenging thing to do now is to collect your "items" for the games, example, Milo packets, toothpaste boxes...etc,then want to be Santa Rina? Do save your pocket money to buy extra sweets/gifts for the children. If not, at least we'll have "extra" food to share in the 'touring bus' to Felda places.gah..gah...gah...

yeehahhh...finally you guys can hear from me after a veryyyy....loooong...technical problem on my side. is it just me or what?i am still vague about this whole language camp thing. The only thing that I am very certain of is that i am in the first group of the laguage camp. I mean, i got this idea that each one of the facilitators will have to be in charge of a game...does that mean that each one of us will have to prepare the lesson plan as well as the materials and students handout for the rest of the facilitators?help....save me from this torment of feeling dumb or should I say unbriefed (if there's such a word)!
Yes, good idea there Shi Ing! hmm...I thought the last camp did use songs and even danced around with the kids? So, i assumed the kids will love the songs plus extra "show" (Gan's dancesteps maybe) ;) Oh, i also suggest that we use pop songs too. Well..kids nowadays are quite advanced in selecting their favourite everyday tunes! Britney or N Sync anyone???haha, we played 3 games in a row today. Phuh!Very tired..the games were interesting. Luckily got exercise a bit to defeat the "brrr...sejuk..." environment in the classroom

FYI
1. The links to archives of previous entries, October and November, 2002, are broken. It will take a while for me to fix that problem.
2. The Game Master will be incharged of the program books and lesson plans for the language camps. She will assign everybody with games to prepare. You have to prepare a lesson plan, student handout and an abstract of the game assigned to you. Make sure the soft copy documents that you submit to the Game Master are free from spelling and grammatical errors. And they should also be READER FRIENDLY especially a 12 years old kid.

Hello, everybody.
Wow the pressure is building in this room. People relax. Btw i feel like i am like lost in space (the great unknown of cyber realm) because i cant seem to catch the thread of the conversation but dont worry i am a fast catcher up. Hey if i play quidditch for Gryfinddor - i think i will find a first team basis and Harry Potter will be warming my place on the bench.
Well i am cool with the dates and everything but i feel that we are moving just a tad too sloooow guess must all the celebration mood like me too.
Well i am pretty cool with everything - for once it is nice to follow rather than lead. It is a big headache to coordinate everything.
Songs was the hot topic from Aishah today's boring class.
What kind of theme are you looking for? R&B, ballad, slow rock or jellabies song? ;)
Victor, what can i say, tsk tsk tsk...you make Mr G feel really bad! Hey Mr. G you want benchmarkers you should benchmark the girls rather than the 'guy'...sorry Zam no offense! You get genuine feedback from us! Right girls! (Back me up here)
Guess what - Macy Gray is singing a Christmas song on MIXFM...weird.
Gonna go to Middle Earth in another 10 minutes...see you later!

Dear Victor, do you have to test so many times? Hmmm, it seems as though everybody has got the wrong perception. We actually thought that we will be in only 1 group. nevertheless, it is better that we are going to be in 1 group rather than what we thought, that volunteers for the second camp. I don't think there would be anyone in that case. Hmmm, looking forward to the camp. Wonder which one will I be in.

Ok, let's see if this works outside Mr.G's office. This should be my second entry apart from the first one we did when registering for blogger. Anyway, i wanted to ask Miss Aishah about the language Camp thing and when we are going to have the first meeting, but i did that already in class and so here i am again wondering which camp i will be sent to. And i am glad that Mr. G has been using me as a benchmark in the class, although i prefer to be less noticed. Hopefully the attention seekers in our class will take over my role soon. But now i guess all i can say is i don't want to be noticed. And the red T-shirt jersey is really catchy.
Hi everyone, I am Li Min using Alariece's blogger. Desperate case!! Dear Mr. G., I have been trying to log into the blogger's account. There isn't any 'Gameplan' box at the right corner. There are only the 'Create new' and 'Sign in' thingy. Ermm, as far as I am concerned, I have accepted the invitation million years ago. So, what shall I do? By the way, I would like to thank Miss Yee Fen for informing me about the failure, 'N' Miss Alariece for borrowing her blogger. :)
For the rest of my friends, 'How was Raya celebration?' Collected lots of 'green pows'? Share share ya!! Baizura,...Thanks for the raya kuih. It was yummy!! Hope that I will be able to sign in soon.........Still surviving: Yeo Li Min. :)

wow!Mr G has selected the games for the camp.again, WOW coz' the date for the first camp has been confirmed.Hmmm..very glad that we'll work as ONE big team and not two. oh yes, so the 'volunteers' for the second camp will get extra points huh?I hope everyone can join in the second camp also.Yes..I know it'll be hard especially when we have to rush for our PSM.Anyway, we shall discuss any doubts or express our opinions in the next class.Hopefully, less problems so that we can start to concentrate on the programmes for the 3-day camp.Felda Tenggaroh 4...sounds challenging!

Assalamualaikum....n hello everyone...
i couldn't post my entry. it's ok and i'm trying again.
well...it's time to crack our head again....about the camp, it means that we are compulsory to go for one camp only? TQ but about the new participation marking scheme? Are we increasing the percentage? About the 'anak angkat' issue, it won't be a matter to me to stay with a foster family because i heard from friends who went to the previous camps, they were very nice. But if i've been given a chance i'd prefer to stay in school because of certain reasons that are quite hard to be explained.
We have about a month to prepare for the camp, we have quite a lot to do, and oh yeap about the game that my partner and i had proposed...it seems like the same as Great minds do not think alike as listed by Mr. G. heheh..so do we have to propose a new game? or can we just considered that our game has been selected for the camp? How about the marks? even Mr. G had confessed that our game is one of his favourite...heheh..

START BEING BUSY
I have made up my mind. You only have to go to ONE camp but you can volunteer to go to another one just for fun plus 2 extra marks (under New Participation Mark Scheme). You already know the dates and venues. Your may start working by securing sponsorships and planning the activities. Compulsory games are:
1. Bingo. (Think of 25 most popular animals in the zoo)
2. Word Builder a.k.a. Scrabble for Poor People
3. Treasure Hunt
4. Skits / Short Dramas
5. Jigsaw Reading
6. Great Minds Do Not Think Alike (Country, animal, food..)
7. Win, Lose or Draw
8. Extreme Dictation
9. Who am I? (Ice breaking activity)
10. Flag design and group cheer (Team building activity)
p.s.
Aida Jasni, Harlina Khalidi, Masnizah Mr, Ng Si, Noraishah Mak, NurulA A, Susanna Dd and Yeo Lm. Who are these people? Half of the semester has gone by but there's no trace of them on Gameplan Blog. Maybe they have problems with the Internet. Tell them I am here to help.

Heiiyyaaa.....well I don't really geddit..we were supposed to be devided into two groups and everyone of us will go to the camp once..but if we are going together..so we have to conduct the camp twice!! Is that what is really going on here. I just need some clarification on that. OK. if that's really the case, if i'm not mistaken, correct me if i'm wrong...we should only accomplish a camp rite..a camp. just ONE camp and i'm truly agree that everyone of us should go together but why can't we just go for one camp. Why must we organize two camps? I know it's gonne b fun..we gonna love it but for the whole lot truth and i guess everybody realize it too we have so much to do..well PM Khairi's project..doesn't that rings the bell..and if u allow me to go on I can make u a list of workloads that weight as heavy as PSM II. Let me make it straight here..i'm not complaining or blabbering but i just wanna know can't we just make the already coplicated things here, straight? but if we really need to go for two camps for our course assesment then i guess there's nothing i can do..go for the camps and enjoy them while u can.... till then guys..tata.

wah wah wah wah.....at last, Mr Wizard Long posted his thoughts here!Yes, I'm happy too that we'll be staying at the schools instead of 'anak angkat' system.Luckily one of the representative said that it's better to bunk together in schools. It's quite inconvenient to discuss certain matters with our team-mates if our houses is quite far apart, right?During the previous meeting with the Felda team, we haven't confirm the dates but the proposed dates would be on 17,18,19 Jan and another camp is on 24,25,26 Jan.Instead of handling Pri 5 ike previous camps, ours is for Pri 6.hmm,meaning those students mostly will be the same faces who joined the previous ones. One of the best thing about this coming program is that everything will be conducted in Eng, even the doa makan! Then facilitators from each zone will be observing with us in the classroom. So guys, learn to dance 'elegantly' when u include certain movements for the games!OOhhh...haa...this is the best news so far: The schools actually don't mind to accomodate 21 of us as ONE team for every camps! Ha...now it's up to Mr G to decide, plz sir, don't use your 'power' to separate all of us the chirpy, exciting ones to 2 groups!Like mentioned before, we don't mind going to 2 places as long as we'll be together. The tiny problem is for the first proposed dates, some of us have to rush for our PSM2.yes I know logically, students seldom want to join in the 1st camp because scared they'll be extremely busy.Mr.G said those who join the 1st camp may volunteer again for the 2nd camp which leaves the percentage to stick together: VERY LOW. So during the meeting, we haven't come to a solid conclusion whether to stick as one or split.Help! I need everyone to give their opinions, which one is better, more members but need 2 camps or less manpower in each zone (ha, have to handle 10-15 students each, GASP!) By the way, hehehehehehe...we had 'great moments' during the meeting!ahah, for Shah, don't be over perasan with the BMOC title u accidentally got!!yooohooo, we "scanned" for specific info too! :)))

well, well, well isn't this nice. hey fellas i'm here and i'm going to stay. why? well i've got the best news ever!!! well for me it is. during the lang. camp this coming january were not going to stay in the houses of the felda people. isn't that great!!! well it's not because of their houses or anything but for me i'm not comfortable staying at people's houses. then we have to call them Mom and Dad.
personally i'm looking foward for this camp because i do believe that people big or small learn better when they're having fun or in trouble but we don't like to get into trouble so we have to stick to having fun instead.
ah! before iu forgot, SELAMAT HARI RAYA!!!!!

heeeeeee...........i have used the wrong nick to enter this place, that was why i couldn't accessed to it all the time...i am so so ooooooo dumb, babe...very bored lah, talk about something else...something interesting, something cool!! something that we can debate and blah about....anyway, i agree with most of you that language games is indeed cool!! but it is also rather bored to me, hehe..please don't deduct my marks for saying that, Mr G!!!! In fact, there is nothing wrong with the lesson, it's just that i am too lazy...gosh, what a shame! i mean i am too lazy to crack my mind and think of games, i mean games for language learning and teaching.....*sigh* i know this is entirely my problems and yes, i am repenting....i will 'menanam sikap rajin' and will try to enjoy better...anyway, let's hope i can change my point of view after the semester break..let's see how are the three chosen groups' performance on their game 1...ganbatte kudasai...and SELAMAT HARI RAYA!!!!!!!!! YAHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOO.....remember to bring back 'kuih'...well, i think you can judge from the size of my body, right??? hehehehehehehehehe....
people, i think the games that all of us had done for game 1 was really cool! It's really creative and fun. i guess we can really do it! i am sure the camp will be a success. this group is really something. we have also got great capable leaders to guide us along the way. thats the main thing on top of all. i am sure the kids will enjoy our camp. just hope everything will go well and that everyone will stil be in their best health and spirit to camp away with all the kids. don't you just feel a few years younger by just the thought of camping with young lovely children? :)

for our game 1 assignment, we were told that we have to make posters and paste them all over the walls in the next class.Wow, that sounds like a cool thing to do. well, it has been years since we created posters which basically introduce games to played especially for kids. anyway, it requires a lot of time to think about a suitable game for Primary 6 kids. plus, the key word according to Mr.G is "sustainable"!haha, looks like we are going to use the word over and over again throughout this semester. Yes, I agree that a sustainable game should be introduced so that we can play it everywhere, at any time without much fuss. Just do it people! With all our creative minds, definitely all games that are going to be displayed deserve some credits!Sadly, only a few games will be selected to go for the final round in the language camp. This is an unfortunate idea to those games which are also good and have elements of sustainability in them. Sigh!again, why can't everyone get the 'popular' 2 marks?afterall, not that we do not put extra effort in completing every game. Sometimes, it's just a difference between 1 or 2 points, well even worse when the 'chosen ones' are being based on popularity. Hmmm...I do hope that we are not tempted to sabotage each other. Be kind ok, be honest in every game.Wish all the best to all especially in mesmerizing people with our posters!!Yeeehaaa....

Problems and changes seem so rampant in our lives these days. Sometimes i feel concerned too that i may not be able to cope, i have just been assign a new supervisor for my PSM ii and there seems to be so much changes i have to make!! And like WanLing said, a few days ago it we had to be busy with our practical trainning, and now posting. I am still wondering when is the due date we are supposed to hand in the forms. Oh, by the way people, please be informed that PN. Tina wants us to fill up the borang pemilihan tajuk PSM again and hand in to her asap. Guess that's all for now. Academically i feel very lonely everytime espeacially when we have to do group work and group assignments. Sometimes i envy those who have readily formed groups. Guess its tough being a guy and wanting to get good results in TESL. I seem to need help but again everybody seems to need it too. I want to take this opportunity to thank all those who have worked with me before and have helped in invaluable ways. Thanks and you know who you are don't you. :)

A few days ago it was about our practical training , on the place and school. Now it’s about posting. Well, problems just pop up all the time. I guess the issue on posting will be a hot topic among the 4th year tesl students for a while now. Can’t help it, can we? Most of us don’t know whether or not we want to be in the education field and we are worried if we will be able to go back to our hometown. Worse still if we get somewhere far from town and far from familiarity. just hope we will be able to face it anyhow.

hello everyone!ooohhhh.....through some of the messages, looks like most of you were lucky enough to get easy access to this blogger site. gosh...i tried more than 5 times to join in but encountered different problems everytime. hahaha..at last, i'm IN!yippie yaiyo!Hmm, great site to share our thoughts, even to update and use our skills to create 'WOW' experience again! Oh yes, we have a new committee for this semester's language camp.Thumbs up for Cecah for being the Director. hehe, the director had her moments of glory as the voting was based on "people's choice award"!All the best for the committee members.Yeah, with all our exotic, artistic powers, surely we can create another history!but sadly, this time, we have to split to 2 groups.NO....how i wish we can accomodate all members into 1 group only!It would be better if all of us work and have fun together like we did in Drama class.I do hope that miracle will happen, that maybe the campsite can eventually accomodate all of us.Hmm,perhaps we shall do some roadtour to show our talents. Then, maybe the people in charge, (villagers,schools..etc) would love us so much and never want to separate us into 2 teams!ahah!Any ideas how to appeal for only 1 great team for this language camp?please...let there be light....uhuk..uhuk..

Assalamualaikum n g'day to everyone....
hi...today we've decided on the committee of our language camp...let's hope for the best..well i'm sure everything will be alrite...we've come so far together..and we sure can make it this time....
Well..how do you find the games that we've palyed in class. Personally, i think those games can make people stress sometimes...we should be in a stress free environment, shouldn't we? moreover stress is not good for young adults like us, rite.but if we look at the bright side of it..it might helps us in coping with stress..whether we realized it or not.....whatever it is, i'd enjoy every moments working with you...guys and looking forward to move on for the language camp.we sure will enjoy it, like we used to do...actually like we always will...
And Lay Kian..i'm going to watch Harry porter today..heheh....nevermind i'll tell yer about the whole lot story...that's all for now..can't wait for the next class to see the games that are going to be exhibited by my colleagues..as they are all very creative and innovative..haha...c yer guys..tadaa...

Have you watch HARRY POTTER? What are your comments towards this famous movie serials. I'll watch it for sure but waiting for the suitable time...Your comments also can encourage other people to watch this nice movie. So, if you do like this movie, share with us. Mr.G, it's something not really related to language camp, but it do help us to understand kids better - a real bad excuse, hahahahahha! sorry if i misuse this blogger page. SMILE ALWAYS! =)
Lastly, we formed the basic committee for OUR language camp. Huuray...at least wont wait and wait and wait...Hopefully we all will have great time together again throughout the language camp preparation until the end of the post mortem. I believe with the leadership and experiences that Aishah and Nadya have, we'll definitely have HAPPY HOUR although in the rural area. But, it's still not that perfect as 20 of us cant go together but be forced to seperate from each other. Mr G, may be you can reconsider about our WANTS...It's just like Michelle's dreams to go to other places...sigh!! SMILE ALWAYS! =)

We thought that drama was hard work. But actually, language games has almost similar amout of workload. but i agree both are interesting. we learn new things in both courses. One, being able to be involved in the drama production and the other, getting our journals online and being in a weblog. But, at least we know that those who took language games last semester had almost the same amount of work. Not just us (drama students). Ermm, I better not forget that the actor/actress department did had a really hard time. In fact, they spent the most time. But, I am sure they enjoyed it. (ooops, I'd better stop involving drama into our language game subject. sorry about that.)well, i think this semester, everyone will get the same amount of work. So, burden's shared equally and every single person is able to feel the same. Am I right?

can someone please clear my doubts? I know that Mr. Ghazali told us to write something about the language camp (the one that we are supposed to organise) in our upsaid account (journal) during the first lesson. However, I am not so sure if that was mentioned in the previous class. So, I was wondering if that is still the case? Is the journal still about the language camp or can it be anything? Sorry if that was mentioned but I was not paying attention. I will try to be more alert the next time.
hullooooooo people!! phew! easy log in! well, its been quite a light subject so far. participating in games n writing journals. wonderful assignments n d ultimate camp thingy will come n upset our serenity. but i'm looking forward to it!! hoping that we'll go further this semester.do u think there's any chance for us to go sarawak or sabah??? ok, maybe dat's too far, but watta bout in d northern states?? perlis? kedah? we dun get the chance to visit those places dat often. yeah, i'm probably dreaming, but then, it's d only entertainment i get apart from watching shi ing go looney once in a while. well, i better post this message before it gets any longer n before i reveal much much more bout shi ing..............kekekekekekeke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
although sometime when we want to post and publish, the message didnt appear immediately in the web page, but it will automatically do it after few minutes. That day, actually my 2nd msg didnt appear, but now i checked, it's there...so just type whatever u want and just leave it lar...Btw, i logged in because of chatting to friend that day, so come and visit at the same time lor...instead of doing one thing at one moment. i usually do few tasks at the same time.haha...SMILE ALWAYS!=)

hmmm, i just can't get to publish it..sigh!! am i that dumb?? gosh..well, the following message is typed arlier, but i just can't get to publish it...let's take a look ya..waooooo, i thought i will be the first five to log in, well..it shows that there are others who are more 'kiasu' than me..hehe..i have nothing much to say because all the topics are on logging into this site. Anyway, for Lay Kian's queries, i really wonder why there is C for this subject. That sounds scary huh? By the way, when is the next class after Raya-cum-semester break?? Some say Monday no class, but some say yes..well, it will be better for us to make this clear becoz some of us gotta buy ticket and so on..balik kampung mahhhhhhhh...
lalalalalalaaaa..ellow...I have logged in now!! I just don't know what to say,hehehe....! But as Wan Ling said, it is easier to use this blogger coz it don't take so much time to log in and register. Furthermore, my PSM research is related to this kind of online learning. Thank u....erm Mr. G, I'm innnnnnnn!!!!!! :)

I have got myself logged in. It is easier to register compared to e-mail accounts. there is no long registration form that you have to fill in. All you need to do is key in your name and e-mail address. I don't think anyone else had any problem in signing up as well. this is kind of interesting as I have never experienced using a blogger before. And having public readers as well will be a very interesting one because we will be able to get feedback on what we write.

Wao.....i thought it's not that difficult to get A for this subject, but the grading list shows that the weakest grade is C, better watch out...actually why someone will get C for this subject? It's because of didnt submit assignment? didnt go for lg camp? or because of final? any 'seniors' - those who took this subject last semester can shed some lights to us?? HELP!!! SMILE ALWAYS! =)
Hi.....everyone in SPL. I'm LayKian, finally we are taking Lg Games as our final semester's subject. Just be introduced about this site today, i also didnt expect i will go and visit here so soon. Chatting with my man now, received invitation email from Mr.G - follow u all to acknowledge him as Mr.G, haha....so just log in and look around. I hate the computer in the lab, it's so slow and wait for century to display a page. It's still the best to online in my room-can drink, eat, rest, chat...do whatever i want at the same time. Just inform u all, there are a big group of us are coming in this site and distrate you all soon, be careful ah...ha..ha...ha....c u then!! SMILE ALWAYS! =)
