Lesson Plan for Skit Activity in English Camp A

Skit activity

  1. Objective :
                a) Students are able to act creatively and talk in English
  1. Level : intermediate
  2. Language :
a)      Creative skills
b)      Speaking skills
  1. Duration : 35 minutes – preparation
                10 minutes - presentation
  1. Materials : -
  2. Procedure
a)      Briefing
i)                    The facilitator introduces the name of the activity: Skit, and tell them what is skit all about.
ii)                  The facilitator asks students whether they have already chosen their favorites story from the previous story or not.
iii)                The facilitators tells students that they are going to do the skit based on the story
iv)                The facilitator explains the rules of the game to the students
·         Rules and Regulation
-           Duration: 10 minutes. 5 points may be deducted for any groups that exceed more than provided time.
     -    All participants must use English. 5 points may be deducted for any use of    mother tongue languages.
                          -       Everyone MUST participate in the  Skit and TALK. 2 points will be deducted   for each person who is not in the Skit
 -        No violence is allowed.
       -       No rude/inappropriate words are allowed.
       -        Speak clearly.
                      -        Opposite genders are not allowed to have any contact (hand to hand,   body to hand, body to body)
                      -        No marks will be given for props but it is encouraged.

·                     Students are required to appoint :
Playwright: 
-Write the skit (can be more than one)
Director:
-Leader
  It is your job to keep the group on task. Also, you will help the playwright by adding stage directions and revising the dialogue and action of the script. 
Creative designer:
-          You are in charged on the props and stage directions(can be more than one)
Time keeper:
-          You will play a vital role in timing the skit, revising the script, and finalizing the last minute details in order for your group to be well-prepared for the performance (can be more than one)
·                     Students in charged needs to play their role well for the skit
b)      Playing the game
i)                    Facilitator tells students that they can take all the materials for the props at the front desk
ii)                  Students divide their roles
iii)                Students are allowed to do their preparation and rehearsal for the skit activity.
iv)                Students are asked to perform their skit in front of the other group members
v)                  The judges will give the marks according to each performance. 
c)      Debriefing
i)                    The facilitator asks students what they think about the activity and what they learnt from the game
ii)                  The students respond to the questions.
d)     Variation
i)                    Instead of giving the students a different theme to perform, facilitators can ask the students to do the skit using their own creativity and theme.
ii)                  In the rules, the facilitators should include whether or not the skit should have a narrator or not.
